I decided to take a look at every CPU-owned team in any Elite or Competitive league (regular sim only, not Casual or Pee Wee) to see if I could find any ridiculous examples of CPU-owned teams beating good human teams. I ignored any leagues below Competitive, since if you're a human team that couldn't even make the playoffs in Competitive, you have no logical grounds for claiming to be a good team. Period. I included Competitive simply because there's at least a chance of some decent human teams being in Competitive, though most human teams in Competitive probably aren't very good.
First, here's a list of the teams:
OFOTD II (1-8) - Regional Pro Elite #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=4461Nordic Skulls (0-9) - Regional Pro Elite #3 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=6214Cuidado Piso Mojado (0-9) - Regional Pro Competitive #5 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=2726Baltimore Tigers (1-9) - Regional Pro Competitive #9 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1843Cleveland Dawgs (0-9) - Semi Pro Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1503Canton Bulldogs (2-7) - National Minor Elite #1 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1571Ocean City Crabs (2-7) - National Minor Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=257Odsherred Berserkers (2-7) - Regional Minor Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1598Rosario Fire (1-8) - Regional Minor Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=485Cleveland Orange (2-7) - University Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1299London Olympians (2-7) - University Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1553Worcester County Mohawks (2-7) - University Competitive #3 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1520Railside Rookies (2-7) - Prep Competitive #1 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1364Thermoplae Warriors (0-9) - Prep Competitive #2 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=2877Overall record: 17-103, a .142 winning percentage. Against human-owned teams in Elite and Competitive, CPU-owned teams are winning 14% of the time.
Of course, the "CPUS ARE OVERPOWERED OMGWTFBBQ!" crowd is going to be outraged that the win column is anything other than 0. But let's go look at those 17 wins and see if they actually mean anything.
OFOTD II 83, Stuttgart 14 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2171298Stuttgart is human-owned, but has an all CPU roster, so this was basically 2 CPU teams going at it.
Baltimore 36, Novaya 23 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2173656Novaya is a human-owned human-roster team in Regional Pro Competitive #9, but they're bloody awful. Their average level is 63 in a league where the best teams are in the 70s, their roster has human dots as low as Level 37 and a handful of CPU dots, and Novaya's overall record is 2-8. They're turrible, just turrible, and they're well on their way to demoting from Competitive down to Normal. A CPU team beating them is still probably an upset, but it shouldn't be particularly shocking or rage-inducing... certainly not evidence that CPU dots are over-powered.
Canton 16, Pottsville 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2177119Pottsville is a human-owned human-roster team in National Minor Elite #1. Their roster isn't the best, but their average level is consistent with the rest of the league at 58, even if their average effective level is only 57. But their record is 1-8, including 6 games where they got shutout and 2 more games where they couldn't even top 7 points. So either they're not gameplanning, or they're awful at it, and because of that they're well on their way to demoting to Competitive -- and they might still struggle there too. Again, this game doesn't have me too worried about CPU dots being over-powered.
Canton 10, Black Steel Storm 9 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2177121FINALLY... a decent human team losing to a CPU team. BSS ain't exactly dominant, but they're 4-5, in 8th place, and very much in the hunt for a playoff spot in Elite. So how did they lose to a CPU team? Well, here's the thing... Canton is a CPU-owned team, but there are also 10 human dots on the roster, which mitigates things somewhat. Still though, for the "CPU DOTS ARE OVERPOWERED!" crowd, here you go: an example of a CPU team beating a decent human team. But I'm very amused that *I* am the one who found it before any of you.
Ocean City 111, Staten Island 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2177571Staten Island is human-owned, but they have a 40-man roster with 18 humans and 22 CPUs, and they're 1-8 in National Minor Competitive and well on their way to demoting down from Competitive to Normal. NOT a decent human team, not even close.
Ocean City 40, Gridiron 10 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2177546Gridiron is also human-owned, but they have just a 45-man roster, only 30 of which are humans and 15 are CPUs. Many of the human dots are underleveled for their league, and their record is 2-7 in National Minor Competitive #2. They're well on their way to demoting down from Competitive to Normal, so yeah, no. Not a decent human team at all.
Odsherred 16, Justice 6 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2182722Justice League is human-owned with a full human roster, though slightly under-leveled for their league. But they're 3-6 in Regional Minor Competitive #2, so they're struggling just to keep their head above water in Competitive... they've been held below 10 points 6 times, 3 of those times being shutouts. A decent team doesn't struggle like this in Competitive, so a 10-point loss to a CPU team doesn't peg my outrage meter.
Odsherred 108, Long Island 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2182533Long Island is human-owned, but has an all CPU roster, so this was basically 2 CPU teams going at it.
Rosario 12, Odsherred 7 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2182553Oh, hey, both teams here are CPU-owned teams, so never mind. That leaves Rosario with 0 wins over human-owned teams.
Cleveland 27, Botafogo Beach 13 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2186049Botafogo Beach is human-owned with human dots, but they're WAY under-leveled for their league, with an average level of 24 compared to the top teams in the league being in the upper 30s. Botafogo is also 2-7 in University Competitive #2 and well on their way to demoting down to Normal, so they're nowhere near being a decent human-owned team.
Cleveland 22, Honolulu 14 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2185824Honolulu is human-owned, but with a 40-man roster made up of just 25 humans and 15 CPU dots. They're also 1-8 in University Competitive #2 and well on their way to demoting out of Competitive down into Normal, so calling these guys "decent" would be quite a stretch.
London 13, Honolulu 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2185890Oh, hey, it's the same Honolulu team I just looked at above. Same arguments apply.
London 34, Nibiru 31 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2185892Nibiru is human-owned, but their 43-man roster includes only 7 humans and 36 CPU dots, and they're 0-9 in University Competitive #2. Decent? Not even close.
Worcester 79, Portland 7 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2186984Portland is human-owned, but has an all CPU roster, so this was basically 2 CPU teams going at it.
Worcester 75, New Jersey 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2186998As the team note for New Jersey says, this was a CPU team until it was bought by a human 2 days ago, and the team will be reset at the end of the season. So, the owner is clearly in zero-cares mode, and the roster only has 4 human dots anyway. Not even close to a decent human team.
Railside 24, Guahan 17 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2183774Guahan is a human-owned, human-roster team, but they're a good 9 levels below the top teams in their league. They're also 2-7 in Prep Competitive #1, and are prime candidates to demote down to Normal next season. Not a decent human team.
Railside 7, Free Dots 0 -
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2183857Free Dots is a human-owned, human-roster team, with levels that match up just fine with the rest of their league. But their Effective Level matches their Average Level, which suggests they may not be building right. Also, their record is 2-7, including 3 shutout losses and 6 losses by double-digits, which suggests their gameplanning isn't up-to-par. Their only 2 wins came against Guahan (see above) and a human team 9 levels below them. If they can't handle equal competition, that makes me think they're not a good team at all, so an upset loss to a CPU team doesn't particularly shock or surprise me.
-------------------
So, there you have it: every instance of a CPU team beating a human-owned team in either Elite or Competitive so far this season. Of those 17 wins, only 1 came against a decent human team at all, a playoff-bubble team in Elite with a 4-5 record.
If CPU dots are so over-powered, shouldn't there be more than 1 example? And why is it that it took ME to find it, and not any of you?
