If he gives me 10% bonus equipment on Black Friday, I'll buy a bunch.

And that's why you're sounding idiotic, because the BCS has nothing to do with what bowl game Boise State plays this season - except that they said they're not playing in the 5 bowl games that the BCS determines.
Boise State gets a shitty bowl because they have a shitty conference with shitty bowl alignments, not because the BCS said "let's make sure Boise State plays shit teams each year". If it weren't for the BCS, Boise State would still be playing in the Humanitarian bowl each season, probably.

The NCAA doesn't control the bowls; they have some guidelines for the requirements on the bowls but that's about it. The bowls get agreements from each conference.
So blame the Big 12, the Big Ten, the SEC, the Pac-10, etc for not scheduling a premier bowl game with the WAC. Or more properly blame the WAC for having a shitty football conference that can't get enough fans together to make it worth one of the major conference's while to schedule them.
Hell the only reason they get to go to the Las Vegas bowl is that the Pac 10 sucked so bad it didn't have 5 bowl eligible teams. Otherwise they'd probably be in the Humanitarian Bowl again.

I agree. It was more a part of arguing yesterday that I was in the mood for and I was butt hurt that BSU had to play another small school again this season.

The BCS pissed me off because BSU dropped like a rock for losing a game which was only lost because their shitty kicker couldn't make 1 of 2 field goals from less than 30 yards out. Don't forget that the team they lost to and only lost thanks to a shitty kicker was ranked #18 in the nation. It's not like they got beat down by them nor did they get beat by an unranked team. That's why I was pissed at the BCS for dropping BSU out of the top 10 so they didn't get a chance to play in the BCS bowls. Then combine that with the Bowl committee putting BSU (who 1 week prior was ranked #4 in the nation) up against a 2 loss Utah team ranked 9 spots below them...

All the LDS families can have a reunion. It makes perfect sense to match BSU and Utah.

Boise State should drop like a rock when they lose a game like that. Compare them at #10 in the BCS to the team just ahead of them at #9. Boise State's best win this year is over Virginia Tech who sits at #13 in the BCS and they only played 3 other teams all season that qualified for a bowl game (Nevada and Toledo and Hawaii) with a .500 or better record. Michigan State's best win was over #5 Wisconsin and they played 7 other teams that qualified for a bowl game with a .500 or better record (W Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa, and Penn State).

So both teams are 11-1. Boise went 3-1 against teams that finished .500 or better and MSU went 7-1. Boise also had some truly terrible teams on their schedule like San Jose State, New Mexico, and Wyoming who won a combined 6 games.

Boise's competition stinks. If they slip up at all, they look pretty bad in comparison to teams from major conferences that face a much more difficult schedule week in and week out. Then because they are in crappy conference, they also get stuck in crappy bowls who care more about butts in seats than about trying to get a quality game on the field.

If Boise ever really wants a real shot at a national title allowing for a slip up (in the current BCS system), they probably need to play 4 opponents in nonconference play that will be ranked at the end of the season. That's hard to predict and hard to schedule (and hard to win all 4 games). They thought they had a good game against Oregon State this year, but they just kept losing close games in the Pac Ten.

The "slip up" this season meant they didn't win their conference. They aren't getting a title shot without winning their conference, no matter what the out of conference schedule looks like.

Throw out the loss to Tulsa and Notre Dame lost to some pretty good teams. And they beat USC, and Utah. They deserve a Bowl bid.

That's a lie perpetuated by Boise. No one will agree to a "home and home" with Boise, but plenty of teams would accept the Broncos coming to play them or at a neutral site. One of the reasons why I despise Boise while applauding TCU is that the Horned Frogs actually will play anyone anywhere, and they'll do it in the middle of the season when teams are playing their best. Last season they played at Clemson (mediocre team, but very tough environment at home), in '08 they played at Oklahoma and against Stanford, in '07 they played at Texas and at Stanford, in '06 they played Texas Tech, and in '05 they won at Oklahoma. Only the last of those was in the first week of the season, which is the time when upsets are by far the most likely given that college teams don't have a preseason to get going.

Meanwhile Boise State will only schedule one or two good opponents at the very beginning of the season when those upsets are more likely, then they spend the rest of the season bitching about their ranking. No one forced the Broncos to schedule Toledo & Wyoming this season. They easily could have had two games against middle of the pack BCS schools instead, but they chose not to.
