Mali beat Angola 23-6 yesterday and is still ranked behind them.

Thanks for the rankings, as always! They're fun to look at!

And Angola beat Durban.

Here are a few things I noticed in the numbers since those 3 teams were mentioned. As for Angola being ahead of Mali. They have taken advantage of the point differential aspect of the system. Mali has remained in its spot on the strength of schedule but if with the same strangth of schedule score of Angola would remain behind them. Remember its not heads up play. Rankings arent what have you done lately its about what you do all year.

Durban is ahead of Angola based on the same things but they have a slight edge over Angola in Strength of schedule as well.

P.S. I am still looking at numbers overall and with the addition of the strength of schedule things have changed a lot in the formula to blance a new addition to the formula. I know its still not perfect but going to let this one run a few games to see how things play out. I know some will not agree with it however it does appear to start fleshing itself out and balancing itself.

People have to realize these are power rankings not current standings. If you want standings go to the Africa Pro page. Sometimes teams that you have beaten are going to be ranked ahead of you. Whether it be because of forseen potential or some random equation that isn't mentioned. Look at NFL Power Rankings, the Pats could start off 0-2 next season and still be ranked in NFL's top 10 in power rankings, ahead of the 2 teams that likely beat them.

There's no foreseeable potential in effect here. I think it's just based off of statistics, mainly points scored and points against, with the largest factor being record.

It will be skewed until week 15, and even then, it won't be exact, as many cupcakes will get stronger, proportionately, during the season.

Probably your best bet at getting an accurate power ranking would be to take points scored vs points against and then factor in your opponents' record minus their game against you.

That way, if you beat a team that is undefeated, except for its game against you, it counts for more.

avg points minus avg scored against, record, strength of schedule added. Those are the 3 major parts to the forumla. There are a few other minor points which have small influence only for balancing however this is what mainly counts. Nothing is perfect as I have stated before and am still tweaking the formula some. However over the next 2 games counting todays later, I will not be changing it simply to see how its current form balances out after a few more games.

Updated - to note before someone comes in and says something. USAORG is ahead of Cairo on SoS alone at this time. With facing Cairo and Conarky vs Cairo only facing USAORG for top teams at this point. And with USAORG losing their weight doesnt compare to Cairo or Conarky. The difference in SoS is only thing keeping them up there. Either way after Cairo vs Conarky I expect Cairo to take over second win or lose.

more numbers coming in to balance out some of the early season complaints. I am liking it more and more each week as the numbers start to balance it all.
