Well we know you don't have too much to worry about. We just hope to keep it respectable against ya'll =)

Oh good, in that case we don't need to gameplan or anything.

True that.
I'm glad we got them out of the way early, definitely would have concern after a statement game like that.

Zeta Conference Rankings - Pre-Week 8

Formula changes this week:
Reference level up by 1 to 19
Roster assessment decreased by 5%
Stats assessment increased by 5%

1. Melbourne Thorny Devils (119.3) - Could someone please run on these guys? The whole "27 yards rushing allowed" bit keeps causing trouble with the formulas.

2. Tonga Thunderbirds (102.6) - The next 5 weeks are all against playoff teams, or close to it. This week brings the Four Horsemen and the top defense in the conference, statistically speaking.

3. Bikini Atoll Mushroom Clouds (95.4) - There's only three teams left on the schedule that have the firepower to break their undefeated record. Dunedin this week is one of them, but they have not shown the gameplanning or killer instinct it's likely to take.

4. Four Horsemen (88.7) - A tough intra-conference remaining schedule is made much softer by the week 16 draw of an 0-7 team from the Alpha Conference. The game of the week features two of the conference's top defenses.

5. El Fuego (88.4) - They'll need to learn some lessons from the Christchurch game if they want a home playoff spot. Sheer levels should do the trick for the next three weeks, though.

6. North Marinara Island Ramekins (85.7) - Getting nipped by the Shrooms doesn't do much to hurt their playoff chances, but they do need to stay on the ball and win all the games they are supposed to - like this week with Coney Island.

7. Christchurch Knightmares (84.6) - After a big upset win, they get a nice vacation in Cimmeria. They don't have the levels to take it quite as easy as some of the other contenders do, but they should be fine assuming they put something close to the normal amount of effort in.

8. Dunedin Wolverines (84.4) - This team has coasted by on sheer levels and a soft opening schedule. Things are about to get a lot tougher as they host the Shrooms this week. They have the firepower to pull it off, but will need to show some serious gameplanning skills.

9. Chinese Bandits (75.2) - Nasty scare in Uluru last week. Redscape doesn't overperform they way Uluru does, but they do have more levels.

10. Coney Island Warriors (72.0) - Things don't look good for the Warriors, but if they can somehow upset the Ramekins this week, Dunedin and the Bandits are much more winnable games. 2 out of 3 is the only way they get to the postseason, and they need a sweep to guarantee it.

11. Redscape Diplomats (61.0) - This team is better than their record, but morale issues are going to absolutely kill them before they get to the soft part of their schedule.

12. Uluru Rockies (57.2) - They were pretty upset by the one point loss last week. If they get a one point loss this week, I think they'll be dancing in the streets.

13. Mauna Kea Chenabogs (54.7) - A decent passing game means they might not be shut out, but you have to imagine the Fuegos are going to be a bit hotter than usual this week.

14. Cimmerian Barbarians (54.0) - Not much of a chance with the Knightmares, they should be scouting the Chenabogs, one of two realistic shots they have at getting another win this season.

15. Tasmania Sand Gnats (52.0) - Came out on the wrong side of the Mauna Kea game, but should get the win this week in our second #15-vs-#16 game of the season.

16. FPQA Ronnie Rockers (34.0) - If they're going to win at all this season, now's the time.

Certainly looking forward to the battle with the Horsemen! I wish them well, though not well enough to win.

A lot has been said back and forth over the season.
It all comes down to this moment.
Good Luck and may the best team win.

For a minute there I thought I stumbled into the "Players Looking for Teams" thread...

"Stud, game-breaking, elusive speedster level 2 HB looking for pro team. I'm the next Barry Sanders, sign me now for $3.2 million."

You're not even close. No starting demands? And he didn't even require that it be the reigning USA Pro Champion. You need to spend more time grinding your recruiting XP.

When I was creating formulas, I wanted to minimize the impact of having a powerhouse offense on the defensive rankings. After all, you get full credit for that on the offensive side of the ball, it doesn't seem right to "double dip". So the offenses are ranked 1-16 and the top 8 offenses have their defenses slightly penalized.

The effect isn't huge, since the worst penalty (for the top offense) is only 16% of the distance between their yardage given up and the conference average ... so it'll never make a great defense mediocre. Yes, Melbourne and Tonga were the two teams most penalized by this system (Melbourne 16%, Tonga 14%) whereas the Horsemen's 8th ranked (by my system) offense only received a token 2% defensive penalty.

As Melbourne-Horsemen-Tonga were pretty close in total defensive yards given up in the first place, the penalty was enough to establish the Horsemen with a very small defensive lead (4.7 yards). I think this is appropriate as the Horsemen ARE the passing defense leader outright and 3rd in rushing.
