WTG Gangsters in another snot bubbling game for Saipan
...it's probably your defense...
Don't gut over not making the playoffs...
GUT? What is the meaning of this term? I have not heard that before in the Oceania Pro League. Is that where the pain is? I am guessing so, cause it hurts. In fact my eyes are bleeding after looking at the game and some of the plays where the ball never made it to the WR and it was a complete pass or how a 3 man defensive front acts if I have no men on the line at all. Or is it when my defenders tip the ball and the WRs catch the tips, or is it that I have a intrernal war with all of my players, or is it.....
1. Phantom catches...happen to every team. This is the reverse of last season when there were phantom incompletions. You can thank a number of people for whining to Bort about it -- it made the passing game VERY overpowered late last season (Game 14 or so) and has continued for certain teams this season.
2. Pass protection has a lot to do with builds. Look at where your o-line may be lacking and try to adjust. Think of how a d-line builds and try to adjust to stop them.
3. The tip to catch doesn't happen as much as it used to -- however, the definition of a "pass deflect" in this game is a ball that the defender even marginally touches. This was also the way it used to be with tackles "d-line would register missed tackles even if it was just an arm or finger tackle attempt. Bort changed the tackling output so that it does not register the missed tackles (why you see some backs strolling through the line without a missed tackle) even though they are happening. Stay tuned for him to make backs slow down more when they are going through the line and getting arm tackled though -- its coming to try and slow down the absurd running game. Back to the original point -- the same is true of pass deflects -- even a fingertip touch could register as a deflect, and it won't change the trajectory of the ball enough to make it very hard to catch. Something to be aware of anyways.Re: point 2, I don't think people realize how balanced defensive linemen are. Everyone knows that DEs have boatloads of speed and agility, but my DT, for example, had 60+ agility and 50+ speed when I retired him this past offseason, and that was with all of his equipment in strength, which was also naturally hard-capped. The line is full of fast, strong, and agile players. That said, it's still a problem with the game that the way to build a good offensive lineman for the first couple of seasons was to just run wild with strength and blocking, and then when it was fixed have everyone be stuck with builds that would take a couple of seasons to fix. I guess that's why this is beta, though.
