I'm hearing this often which is odd cuz my entire high school career and my 2 year college career I'd been hearing I was horrible. But people who take it said it's so much easier than gen chem other than memorizing compounds

my brain couldn't deal with all the math in general chem for some reason...likely because i'm a functioning retard...so i had to spend hours every day working on general chem stuff

i took organic after general, so i was used to putting in a ton of extra work...maybe busting ass at the beginning of the class made it all just fall into place...it's been a long time, but i do remember that i breezed through the material

yeah, it's a lot less math, so i can see why many people find organic easier. i thought they were about the same

I had an awful teacher for general chem so idk if it was hard or the teacher just made it alot harder then it should have been

it was the material in general that was the problem for me. i was 'lucky' to have the same professor for both classes...a 60 or 70 year old woman with a cunty attitude

Will probably bookmark this and forget, then msg you in a year if this site still exists asking about it. Seems pretty useful

generally speaking, ochem is definitely the harder class. It is basically THE weed out class for pre-med students. that being said, people who struggle with applying math will often find ochem easier, especially if they are good at sheer memorization

basic undergrad ochem 1&2
you won't have to deal with anything regarding organometallics, ligands, complex reaction cycles, and there's very little math and calculations. You're only gonna see these elements: C, N, O, H, the halogens, and occasionally S and P

take good notes, learn the nomenclature, understand free energy diagrams, learn a handful of basic elimination and substitution reactions and think spatially with molecular modelling

put in the time and ace that shit

Ochem as a 2nd language by Klein is the bomb
