Lets see if San Antonio can back up their mouth when they'll play host to the 1-1 Karachi Bears.

SA, I'll tell you this much - If you're gonna make any noise in this league, you better win that game. We already blanked them 27-0. If you don't handle your business with Karachi, you can forget about your next game in the "Battle for Texas"

This is a position game for you. Either you'll be upper echelon, or middle of the pack.

Who's everybody taking? I got the Bears winning this one 17-13

This should be a good game. Im taking Karachi by 3

Diabolicals Aren't Only Bad Guys In Town.

This week, the fans from Dread City get double the "evil", as the Diebos' host the Outlaws of Las Vegas. Although the Outlaws are 0-2, they bring one of the stingiest defenses in the league, having only surrendered thirteen points in each of their first two games. This week, they'll form a posse to try and wrangle the two back attack of the Diabolicals (2-0), lead by the Thunder God Thor Tartabull (third in the league in yards), and buoyed by "Thriller" Miller (second in the league in rushing TD's). No doubt the Outlaws have some tricks up their sleeves, and will likely use all of them, to secure their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, the sneaky Diabolicals will try to appease the rabid "Henchmen" with some strong D of their own. The Dread City starting d has yet to give up a rushing touchdown, has only surrendered twelve points in two games, and is yet to give up double digits to an opponent. Led by the spectacular team of Hightower, Buendia, and Heathrowe, the front line of the D.C. defense has proven it can shut down all styles of attack. This week, they face an Outlaws offense that has struggled to put points on the boards. Playing at home in The Lair often brings out the best (or, in the Diebos' case, the evilest) in the Diabolicals D, so expect an all out performance today to get the crowd rocking.

Despite the "evil" nature of these teams, you can still expect a clean, but hard fought game. Whether it will be a shootout at the O.K. Corral, or a John Wayne fist fight, remains to be seen.

Windy City Menace (formerly Karachi) flexes it's muscles in a 17-10 win to stop the SA Legion of Doom

SA drops to middle of the pack in power rankings IMO

Good game man. Looks like we picked an unexpected team to find our offense against.

Outlaws take it 30-17, Hightower goes for 262 yards and 3TDs

Outlaws Spring Trap On Sloppy Diabolicals

In the old days of the American West, groups often used "box canyons" to trap their unsuspecting rivals in an unteneble position. If a group of outlaws trapped the posse that was chasing them, they often offered them two choices. If the posse was humble and good, they could leave their weapons and horses, and walk out the canyon back the way they came, unharmed. If they were arrogant or bad, they got taken out, like so many ducks in a barrel.

The Outlaws of Las Vegas drew the Diabolicals right into a trap, straight out of the old West. And, since the Diabolicals have never been known to be good or humble, the entire team got blown away....Wild Bunch-style.

The game started as many expected: a defensive struggle with both offenses fighting for every yard. Several promising Dread City and Las Vegas drives fell just short, thanks to outstanding individual efforts on both front lines. It was early in the second when it looked like the scoring drought would be broken. But, a missed 44 yrd. fg by the Diabolicals kicker was nothing more than an unfortunate portent of things to come.

When another late first half Dread City drive resulted in a touchdown, and a 7-0 lead, it looked like the worst might be over. Actually, the Diabolicals had finally reached the far side of the "canyon"...and found out it was a dead end. The Outlaws had laid their trap, the RB tandem of Tartabull and Miller was spent, and the now exhausted Diebos' defense was about to get shot up.

After a Rake Rincher interception the Outlaws needed only 5 plays and 45 seconds to tie up the game. The 31 yd. td pass was only the second touchdown given up by the vaunted Diebos' D so far this year. But then, after the Diabolicals offense was unable to run out the clock to the half, the usually raucous Lair crowd was stunned silent, as Las Vegas completed an 81 yd. touchdown pass with just 34 seconds remaining in the half. It marked the first time the Diebos' had allowed a team to get into the double digits, a fact that must have been discussed at great length in both locker rooms. For, at the half, it was as if two different teams returned to the field.

In the second half, a downtrodden and depleted Diebos' team could not get themselves going on offense or defense. And, the Outlaws, sensing the Diebos' weakened state and panic, pounced on their trapped prey. After trading field goals in the third, Vegas added two more touchdowns...the second on another long bomb, 58 yds to the TE, who blew past two cover men on the way to the score. Despite another punt return TD this time by Andrew Ringer, which electrified the crowd an cut the lead to 13, the Diebos were never able to overcome the well laid trap by their crafty opponent. Instead, Dread City finds itself needing to regroup after a loss for the first time this season. Hopefully, for their game against the Gulls, they'll plan well enough to not sucumb to the same tricks again...otherwise, they might be just be the "boobs" who got "trapped".

I actually did the calculations.

Without taking too much text to explain them, I gathered up the data for a bunch of offensive (17), defensive (12), and ST (6) statistics. I might be off on the number of stats for each category, as I haven't gone back to count as I've gone thru a couple of versions today....

But then I rank each team for each stat, then take the average of all the rankings for each side of the ball (ie. so the offensive ranking is the average ranking for all 17 stats for a team) So if you're terrible in one stat, but really good (compared tot he rest of the league) in other stats, you'll have a higher ranking.

The offense, Def, and ST rankings are then used to calculate a weighted average where offense and Def are worth 7/16ths each and the ST score is worth 2/16ths. This is the overall average.

I didn't actually intend to have this posted yet, but someone jumped the gun on me....lol

If people are really interested in what stats I used, let me know and I'll post them.

Basically, I'd seen that other leagues had people doing power rankings for them, but no one had done anything for us yet. So I took it upon myself to get it done. Does that mean that it's the best, or that it's infallible....no, not by any means. I'd be happy to have some positive feedback/criticism if it will help make the end product better.

And the latest version is here for those interested:

What can you do against the Cardinals? Besides get shutout 17-0?
