I did a n00bish thing assuming a long run. I've been through all this with Adderfist and agreed to either weed the play out or live with a 1/6 of firing. I chose the former.

See? I am learning haha! Just clearly any error is punished heavily because it's very n00b user-friendly

I guess I never noticed it kept the distance tag on there uselessly. It should erase that if you choose run, or at least fade it grey.

It's a compromise and needs a tooltip to ensure that a short pass, med pass and a long pass MUST be included. And ensure that there is a Run play.

But the real deal-clincher is valuing distances first before pass/run.

Run plays don't use distance at all, the box should be greyed out, but if it was calling a run play when you wanted pass - again big issue.

So, it's 4th and long - they come out in a 2TE set.

You don't have a long pass play against 2TE, so it choose instead your inside run play that is tagged long.

Big problem there too.

This is the problem, you are asking for an impossible solution of not punishing you for an error, but using other systems would punish people much worse.

If it chose by short first, it would do things like pull out a short 4-4 play against a 5WR set.

We're going in circles again. Distance per formation. If a 4-4 man play vs 5wr is because you put that play there, not because the game will randomly pluck it from somewhere.

Now that is an elegant yet simple solution.

Or the other way, 4th and inches you choose short run, but forgot to tag a run play short against their formation, suddenly it's pass short. no bueno.

As I have said. The game needs an overhaul.

Sort from distance first per formation
Ensure a tooltip to safeguard against missing distances and pass/runs
Grey out passes if it's tagged for runs

N00bs need clarity, not pages and pages and pages of info that at the end of it stating that if it's still not clear then ask again nor will a flow diagram that is hand-annotated to correct it up to scratch.

I stand by what I said on the OP.

I still stand by the point that you need solutions before complaining - because just complaining about things without a good solution does nothing to improve it

We got there though, these are good suggestions.

This is why I complained. I wanted solutions and we got some. Our conversation was constructive and exactly what I was after, not being beaten on the head for not following the rules that don't work for all.

At least we can agree that the game does not work for everyone, especially the n00bs amongst us.

The complaint is wholly valid and I stand by it. Now I can only hope the devs take note and actually do something about it.

As it stands, This Defensive AI Strategy Is Unengaging. Unyielding. UnFun.

What do you mean? We came up with the massive overhaul and restructure of the game to make it Engaging and Fun instead of completely UnEngaging and UnFun by graying out the distance tag on plays tagged run.

Yeah. Listen to ThePh33P, stop feeding the troll. I get that this programme was your brainchild and after so many years of veterans playing your programme, you're in a place of comfort. I get that. It's down to you whether you want to take a little criticism of your software or not from someone who isn't from your clique.

After this many pages, we reached a point of some brainstorming, there's even a suggestion thread from Xars due to this thread- whether it's ideal or not there's a conversation about it. We can always improve.

It's down to you and your team what you do next.

But as ThePh33P said, don't feed me if you think I'm trolling. Just don't.

I thought this was just a complaint thread.

It is. But can complaints not be constructive? This whole thread has led to solutions to discuss, whether perfect or not that's up for debate. But it's been wholly constructive.

I must admire the siege mentality of the veterans of GLB2, like yourself. I genuinely see the strong bond you guys have for the GLB2 game. I am impressed. I can't word this any other way: this is not sarcasm, this is an observation from an outsider of your clique.

I spoke with Raid via private chat after our brainstorming and said that I was surprised at how determined I was about making my point - it was like I cared for the game?! But you, and many others, just don't see that. And that's the shame of this whole conversation. Perhaps we'll find a middle ground and respect each other's views (about a bleedin' game) elsewhere.
