I hate cover expert. The defender fires off in the direction it is facing rather than in the direction of the receiver. The defender can’t make adjustments during when it is firing. It just shoots off in an undesirable direction. I’ve noticed the same with sure footed which is a shame.

I say fix these two things. At the very least have it fire off in the direction of the receiver.

Well sometimes it fires in the direction of the receiver, but it basically puts the defender on skates and causes them to overrun the receiver (hence the can't make adjustments when firing that Osiris mentioned), it's definitely a bit funky, probably a tough fix though I'm not sure where I'd even start

It just happens that the current best teams with the best players decided to run zone this go through instead of man...which seemed dominant when they were running it at the time. Now that they're running zone, it feels overbearing instead of man.

Zone got better with the passing nerfs some time ago, much more than Man. Both Man/Zone are fairly balanced(except in TO rate). I just don't buy into the idea that zone defense is weaker and needs buffing, if anything its stronger.

Original point though was that some SAs need fixing, and there are some that could be added. Things went sideways when I suggested allowing EotP to both man/zone. lol

Well Cover Expert used to be Chase Down, so it's actually been a fix before. It's a burst of speed SA though like closing speed, so you need high quickness to turn(momentum I'm guessing, but only a guess).

I would start with it not firing so damn early. I have seen it fire as soon as the play starts. If it was firing 1-2sec after the ball snapped it would probably work better.

I added these to the top of the Changelog Suggestion.

Like Boss said they will be a tough fix. It may have to be a use at your own risk thing.

In our last run I went with a very high balance, footwork, quickness secondary. I thought sure-footed would fit well. It had the opposite effect from what I wanted. I ended up benching my CB that had gold sure footed because he over shot almost every pass. Just like cover expert from our previous run.

Surefoot, On an Island, and third down stopper are the only decent man coverage SAs (one of which isn’t even man based). I like first strike, but the firing rate is way too low.

I would say fix the firing rate of Third down stopper. 35% at silver is extremely low.

Man does need to be re-evaluated once you get to Vet. Safeties and LBs can’t cover, CBs go from lockdown to decent enough. A lot of the perception of man being good is from the fact that QBs are average, but it reality if we had lead passes (give me freaking lead passes) it would be a disaster.

You can spam shakes all game and destroy a man defense at any part of the field no matter if you’re a possession based or vertical based offense (personally: 90 R tech, 70 R elusiveness, head fake, cis, PT, first step at the WR1 and 100 sprinting, head fake, pt, cit at the 2) and that’s without lead passing. When the QB finally has his rare lead moments (that aren’t way out left field) it’s an absolutely filthy play.

Man is good because it allows us to assign help to different parts of the field/positions, not because it’s just.. good. We don’t have pick bait, we don’t have world bending vertical, knocked loose, FF, etc.

I always found GEs defense great. He definitely had one of the best. The problem is that he wanted to run a stupid ass offense and relied too much on his defense. A lot of his losses came from the fact that he refused to have an actual offense, especially when faced against top teams.

Man is good, but I wouldn’t say the raw potential is the same. You can blitz in zone and be alright, if you blitz in man (which I don’t care, I’m still gonna do it lol) you’ll likely pull out some hair.

I will say that I appreciate the variety in builds these days due to the changes, this was the old shutdown build I used to go by for the most part.

If you baseline footwork at 50 with gold surefooted it works out great. Higher footwork on it makes CBs a bit too fluid, especially if you have high quickness.

It’s not that it doesn’t fire or work it’s how it works. I would rather be a little off balance than shoot off in the wrong direction.

One suggestion that's been brought up many times before, but seems extremely important this off-season is the ability to create players on any tier.

Pro may have only 1 or 2 teams next season. I'm on a team that should be headed to vet, but will likely fold. All because they can't fill rosters. Leagues are dying. Once an agents drops out, it causes havoc and dominoes start to fall. We have the flex system already in place with PuP players, so the blueprint is there.

I'd like to see J-Man dropped and add the tier to Vet as well.

THIS! I've been advocating the player creation at any tier and also less chemistry penalties for awhile. What is the argument against allowing players to be built for any tier?

Because then everyone will just always build vet players and the lower leagues are essentially removed from the game.

Which sounds like a dream for the old guard that just want to make the best players and dominate. Not so good for new players jumping into the game and getting hundreds of thousands of points thrown at them to spend and then...nothing else.

It lets the best players skip the bulk of the game and pull the ladder up after them.
