Yes he would have, had he been out in front of the QB or the QB slowed down so he could follow his block.

HB was out in front until the QB cut back

I guess he isn't aware of his blocker and is just reacting to the unblocked defender.

Wolves is so fast he could've ran around the LB even if the HB hadnt been there to pick him up. Ballcarriers are overreacting to defenders, even if they have the speed to beat them around the edge.

it seems like ballcarriers are basically ignoring unengaged blockers now and only taking unblocked defenders into account. So imagine the field where every blocker is invisible, but only the defenders that are engaged in a block are also invisible. RBs only see unblocked defenders so they naturally want to run away from them. It's stupid though because they should be paying significantly more attention to their own blockers and attempting to set them up between the runner and the defender.

Yeah...they need to put a slider in or tie it to ball carrying tactics.

I don't think they ever did this though.

Because they followed a set path. His point was that if HBs now have the ability to cut back off their path, they should use it with the knowledge of where their blockers are, and use the cutback to set defenders up for the blockers to engage them; I doubt the code is sophisticated enough to allow for that. IMO the slider is the only real way to please everyone. Allow option for before where ballcarriers followed the path with almost no cutbacks unless the sideline is completely blocked, the new current logic, and another in-between where ballcarriers cutback only if the defender has significantly superior sideline angle on them. Otherwise it's also hurting not only speed backs that are cutting back even if they are about to beat their defender around the edge, but also those elusive backs who rely on the sideline jukes/spins to get yards.

Yep, If this change is for real, outside running is officially dead. GG

I agree

It's a good concept though, the running game is a lot more dynamic and interesting to watch after this change. I hope the logic gets improved to the point where it benefits the offense instead of just rolling it back.

Ok...so i am not the only one who thinks that this change is garbage?

I dont understand why they didnt just improve the "run oob like a moron" behaviour for run styles other than power...Would have been a much better fix.

To make outside running more viable, they should Simply redesign their stupid plays or if they are lazy, code an Auto halo for lead blockers. Simple as that.

This change rather Made running worse

I think people are being too knee jerk on the change, from the scrims i have seen its been nothing but a benifit to reggie on ga. this change actually makes carry awareness as important as it should be and also makes it so people cant just mindlessly plug a running style in to get a stat boost. Now its actually a strategic choice and adds much needed depth. I love the change. Though sideline running could use improvements and a halo type blocking for lead blockers would be nice as well and make lead block awareness important as well.

It doesnt have to do with player style. Power backs, as well as elusive backs run straight into traffic. As a rushing team you need those edge runs to have a chance at the first down in 3rd and long situations. The current change makes that even harder than it was last season and it has been garbage last season already.

Im always open for changes. I will keep playing (for now) anyway. But this change didnt solve the problems last seasons change caused. They should have first tried to adress that and then come with sth like that now. Just dont like the change. I cant change it, but I do not need to like it either.
