Meh, I don't know what the hell you call them, I just made up some names. I don't follow American football so don't know what the actual terminology is Heck, I don't even know what an actual Nickel or Dime is, I think it's 5 or 10 cents but don't know which way around they are. I just know that having guys cover zones closer to the line of scrimmage rather than the deep zones would be nice.

Nickel is 5 cents, Dime is 10 cents.

Originally, it was named Nickel because there are 5 defensive backs. 5 defensive backs, 5 cents. The Dime is the next monetary unit as you work upwards, so Dime with 6 defensive backs and then Quarter (the next unit) for 7 defensive backs.

But would the SA's actually fire? The restrictions on when the zone SA's trigger are pretty severe.

Those are under zones and there would be man coverage over the top quite often. If they weren't firing something would be wrong.

You could be right. When looking at it I wasn't sure if the help also had to be in zone coverage or not.

If true that is pretty worthless and would have to be changed. If you aren't getting any help from zone SA's in those under zones it is gonna be a fail all around.

The links don't work. You have to make a pic of it and put it on imgur or something.

3 http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/team_create_defense.pl?team_id=&play_id=2270363 can i just describe the play instead? cuz this is some hard stuff trying to post this picture so come out in a 4-2-5. The linebackers are strong shifted and lolb is shallow they are blitzing this is to defende against the run and then you have your dt and le drop back into a zone (i really wanted the le to cover the te but no option of that. (this play is against trips so cb1 is jamming wr1 while cb2 is playing 10 yards off of wr2 and cb3 is blitzing. fs is playing 7 yards off the line of scrimmage and covering wr3. and ss is covering the flat area/ blitzing

Thanks for the explanation, will make it easier to remember that Nickel = 5 cents as well!

Not saying they're good or bad, but those are weird Cover 0 Robbers or something.

Pretty sure its a contest winner though.

I made a new defensive front with 10 plays to get started. Can add more if you want. Can also just be considered a big batch of 4-3 defensive plays with a different alignment.

I only listed drawn plays, not 'ideas'.

So the contest is more about whether you can figure out how to submit a drawn play than anything.

I got ya.

For a visual you can just go look in the D playbook in the Nickel plays.

C1 TE Smother. This play has an added bonus because it's already in the playbook.

Now all that's required is for you to make the play do what it says - you know, SMOTHER THE TE.

In part because of this, I'm realizing we need more overlap between Inside/Outside run and Play Distance with the formations:

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/forum/thread/5224104

So, here's a Medium Inside Blitz for the 4-3 formation. LOLB mans the TE. FS mans the RB. ROLB with the dotted line blitzes unless the FB goes out on a route.

Here's a Medium Inside Blitz for the Dime formation. If the RB goes out on a route to the right, the SS picks him up and the FS still blitzes, if he goes out to a route on the left, the FS picks him up and the SS still blitzes. If he goes up the middle, the MLB zone is right there to cover it and both safeties still blitz.

The advantages are obvious, you can now call these plays in conjunction with a Nickel play that's already in the playbook. This fixes the tactics issue that I was having earlier. Having tactics work in tandem with what the playbook offers is essential.
