Paraboon wasn't a tester either.

I'd have put the cutoff on that at the top 4 - DD, QCB, SF, and the Generals. At least in terms of elo rating it certainly seems to be true.

Rusty plays all those teams better than SF though. Which I find funny. Had they not dipped down to 20 or so in season 2 or whatever they would be right there in the ELO with the rest of them. They were higher than the Generals at one point this season too.

There are a bunch of teams in the top 10 who are easily able to compete and beat any of the other teams. I'm not immune from losing to them. It's once you step outside that competitive range. It's why a team like Hawaii is able to climb through the lower tier of professional teams.

Like my game this morning against the Oklahoma Outlaws, listed right now as #19. They just can't compete with the upper elite, and that's ok. They end up passing for 28.1% and 3.2 yards/rush because from a build and tactical standpoint they are a more than just a notch below. The range is just too big right now for matchups at a programmed 20 rank difference.

pretty sure I dropped as low as 14 in Seasoned and yet came all the way up to finish #3 in Journeyman.

And Rusty's lost a few more games outside that group than the rest - where SF has only lost to DD/QC/Generals. I dunno, it's a mess really. Tampa has had a few tough losses this season to put them behind Rusty again. It'll be interesting to see where the Bulls end up - the top pro teams have the advantage of playing a lot of high ranked teams in league play, too (especially Tampa, where Osprey has a ton of highly ranked teams, and QC/SF get to play each other 2x in league, and the same for Rusty/Generals).

Speaking of which, it's going to be really cool to see how the leagues converge once the season 2 teams reach veteran, and start getting dispersed into season 1 leagues.

We'll still be a full season of SPs/couple SAs behind though until we complete that vet year. I'm excited for that too though.

I reckon Bort and Corndog need to start thinking about that. I assume leagues will continue to work the way they do now; break up a league when you have enough teams of that tier disappear and fill in the gaps. Will that work right when the season two leagues reach vet? Should the leagues get renamed at Vet level? Might be weird to see a S2 team in the S1 leagues, and the league forum structure would need a bit of jiggling - put all the Vet level leagues in the same subforum. Minor issues, really, I guess.

But that also depends on where you are in the rankings. Dookie v Dallas was #33 vs #52, and that was a close game where Dookie won despite being outgained. The elite teams have fewer than 20 teams that can compete with them, but the more middle ground teams have a lot more.

It might be better to do ladder by ranking range instead of rating range, but you may end up with some weird situations that way, and the very top teams right now would only play each other in the ladder, and I don't know that that's desirable either.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I just worked from mid 20's back into the top 10 and it was a long time before I hit the top 5 again. Can't miss many beats when you fall behind the pack.

Dang, Music City Miracle - not in the top 25 in the first two weeks, currently 12-0 and #16

Underrated team for sure. Took me awhile to get going on them in the rhino champ game last season.

Started 46th on the season, very curious to see how they do against better competition. Extremely well built team.

Helmand's pretty good competition already - they've beaten Tampa and lost to the Generals on http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/84349/723688

Music City played a solid game to beat them, too.

...makes me feel better about Deeproute losing to them twice now.
