Luck and running a bunch of defensive plays with 6 blitzers.

Yeah, this is one of the things I was wondering - does the game only try to hold in blockers when it's 5+ or 6+. Plays are flagged as a blitz if 5 or more are rushing, but a player is only held in to block if 6 or more are rushing.

Given that it's 6+ to trigger, it's no wonder it's seen so very rarely.

As for Nib's post, I could see adding a "blitzer threshold" option. Like, a drop down to select between 3 and 6 to decide when to hold players in to block.

This could be pretty cool. I think most people would set it to 5+ instead of 6+ and you could tweak it based on opponent, yet it's not exploity since it's still "a player" getting held into block and not "my blocking HB" or "my blocking TE".

I'm just not getting why you feel that way
I get that dot ball is different from nfl football
But doesn't dot ball have the same inherent disadvantage to keeping in blockers that football does to weigh against the advantage that superior protection provides?

No it isn't the same at all. Because you aren't keeping your HB or FB in for an NFL game because you don't want your QB to target him for a yard rather than throw 10 yards to a WR/TE.

The settings would be better to me if it was all just one check box to hold a player which would then always possibly involve the TE. Which would make it a bit harder of a choice. Especially in leagues like Rookie.

if that is an exploit then GLB2 is being over paranoid. I mean that is ridiculous

Im sure there will be a difference but a gamebreaking difference? I dont think so.

Bigger difference in rookie.

Almost no difference in vet league unless you are trying to secure more targets to your SS WR/TE. But you are probably worse off holding guys in when it comes to vet than not.

You don't seem to get what I'm saying
I want more time on passing plays
I don't want my qb getting sacked 11 times a game
And I don't think taking away the option to throw a pass for no gain should be considered an exploit, that's ludicrous
I have to allow my team the option of throwing a dumb pass?
Why?
Is that not the opposite of an exploit, a dumb thing that shouldn't happen?

And nfl teams frequently hold backs in to block just because they can't catch but they don't want to take the back out because it gives up that you're running a passing play

So the counter is a dogs blitz where if the man coverage player stays in to block an extra defender, you add an extra blitzer.

Or a qb spy or hook zone, nfl teams do all 3, either upping their coverage of the middle of the field or adding a rusher for each blocker held in

We seem to no longer be discussing the topic of this thread and that might be confusing people
Lets start over elsewhere
Blockers vs rushers
