I think the teams who don't like the wl, are the teams who liked 10-14 cupcake games per season, and relying solely on talent to win. Now that the cream has risen to the top, they hate the fact that the only reason for any success they had was predicated on being able to find this site 1st, now that they are engulfed with top teams around them, and they realize they can't cut it, they want to go back to "competitive leagues" where they can beat up on inferior competition, and make threads about being the best at this game.
That being said there is something to those rankings, and all the discussion that was to be had, now we all know who the top 7 teams, are and nobody but these 7 even have a shot, so everyone keeps quiet and these forums are essentially dead.
Maybe bort should have some wl people, whose only job it is to do interviews with all the people who got here, how they got here, more rankings, and something to liven this community up. Rankings for each game, well thought out predictions. Would definitely add to these forums, and would get more than a couple teams involved
I disagree. I came up to WL and ,even though my record is less than stellar, I am not disappointed at all because I expected this level of play when I got here. That does not mean I hate this situation or that I had easy games to reach this point. But because I am not really on the forums or inside testing, I get killed by changes in the game that I do not really learn about until 3 defeats later. We have the friendly scrimmages, but when the scrimmage game plays, I do not get to test my changes before the next game to make sure they work.
The main problem is that specific knowledge about the how the dots moves and VA's and everything that Bort changes all the time is not readily known or easily ascertained. I don't have a bad team or anything. My problem is that I cannot test or learn fast enough. By the time it is figured out the season is over. I have thought about this for a while. The game needs a play tester in the AI test option. Like when you put in a formation to test, I do not think it would be too much trouble to simulate just that play against your defense/offense so you can see how it would work.
I am not sad or dis-heartened because I lose. I am affected because I did not provide more of a challenge. If you guys really want more competition and more offensive and defensive plays, then provide a way to test the plays. Coordinators can then put together game plans that would be more competitive. That way the same best teams in WL would be more challenged.
I really think the whole game would be more challenging and fun if you did that. IMHO
