Ugh man. My research revealed little. So, what am I going to do to improve these rankings? Just for you I am going to take on more responsibility & time!

New features to the rankings starting Wk. 11:
Points Scored
Points Scored Against
Total Offense
Total Defense

Quality Wins & Quality Losses have been REMOVED from the rankings. Reason being is (with the lone exception of our outof conference game at the start of the season), everyone eventually plays the SAME teams. So, the only deviation will be a virtually meaningless, out of conference game, at the start of the season. Which I agree is irrelevant.

Thank you for all of those who gave feedback to this cause.

Anyone else have any more suggestion?
Please feel free to voice them and I will take them under advisement.

Thanks.

Update!
Ok, Total Offense & Total Defense will NOT be taken into consideration. This isnt because I dont believe they are relevant. But, Bort has made it nearly impossible to retrieve the information. Total Offense would consist of Passing, Russhing, Kick Returns, and Punt Returns added together for total yardage. Bort does NOT have a total NET yardage ranking for conferneces. And there are also no average KR/PR average yardage per game. Nor is there any KR/PR against yardage for each team. So there is virtually no way to rank Total Offense & Defense without the numbers being incomplete. I CAN however, rank JUST the Passing & Rushing for and against to come up with some Offense & Defense ranks, but without the KR/PR yardage, they wont be a true barometer of what teams are actually doing.

So far, this is what I am considering now for the rankings:
1. Overall Team Rank
2. Wins / Losses
3. Points For
4. Points Against

No longer being used is:
1. Quality Wins
2. Quality Losses
3. Total Offense
4. Total Defense

If ANYONE has ANY suggestions for other things to be taken into consideration, please let me know and I will try to work it into the equation. Thanks.

I think head to head rankings need to be incorporated somehow, and weighted somewhat heavily

Head to head is basically the same as Quality Wins and Quality losses. Eventually we all play the same teams with the exception of the lone out of conference game, so they are a wash. Wins and Losses pretty much sorts that out.

Head to head and Quality Wins and Quality Losses would mean alot more if we had Divisions and Scheduling, like in the NFL.

wow, a win against a solid team and we drop down 5 spots , but I understand that it is because points scored is a big part of it now and we're only about middle of the pack in that category.

GG btw, we still have some work to do on the offensive side of the ball...

Yeah, the rise and fall has more to do with the change in formula than it does about the results of last weeks games.

Honestly, I think the old formula was more meaningful. Strength of schedule means even more in GLB than in real football because the difference between playing the top team and a gutted team is like the difference between playing the NFL superbowl champs and a pee wee team. That inflates stats too. Quality wins and losses IS meaningful because until we get to week 16 we do not all play the same teams.

This is a much more conservative system that really is not very different from league standings, except the stats become tie breakers. Originally posted by minus_the_pain

Well I can do a hybrid of the two and just include Quality Wins & Quality Losses with the rest the criteria. Only difference in that and the old formula is Points For & Points Against would be added to the old formula.

Thoughts?

I say make it as convoluted as possible, just to give everyone a different reason to complain when they don't agree
