UPCOMING GAMES OF THE WEEK

Alpha Conference
London at Sinsheim - While The Meathod would go with the Enzos/Knights game here, I'm going to pick the Aces and MC Airs game. My rationale is that this ais a must win game for the MC Airs. With the Park Bruins playing the Davenport Tigers this week, Jellystone should easily get a win and, with a Sinsheim loss, will take over the #8 seed. With both teams having one difficult game and one easier game in the final 2 games, a win by Sinsheim here could elevate them above Jellystone and make that head-to-head loss irrelevant. Nevertheless, Line: Aces by 45.

Zeta Conference
Tilburg at London - Since a surprising upset win over Mannheim, the Pounds are undefeated (albeit against 3 not so high-level opponents). This one gets my Zeta Game of the Week title purely to see if London can pull off another shocker and take down the unbeaten Lightning. The problem is that no-one has been within 15 points of Tilburg all season. Line: Tilburg by 28.

UPCOMING GAMES OF THE WEEK

Alpha Conference
Belfast at London - The fight for the #3 and #4 seeds comes down to Week 15. The Defiance currently hold a 1 game advantage, but the Aces can overcome that with a win this week (and assuming they win next week against the Blazers). Line: Belfast by 5.

Zeta Conference
London at Siena - In the other London game, the Pounds come off their near upset of the Lightning and look to get a win over the IL Palio at Contrada Stadium. Siena has quietly won its last 6 games, and its only losses this year are at the hands of the top 3 Zeta teams, and the Defiance in Alpha. With wins this week and next, it's not inconceivable that the IL PALIO's first ever playoff game will be at home. Line: London by 2.

Just the way the numbers work out since the system is far from perfect. Since the rankings consider the season as a whole, the loss drops London's winning percentage and their average margin of victory value. The rankings did factor in the strength of Tilburg, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the other factors. (If London wins this week then it will all solve itself).

I'd like to add something that considers close losses to higher ranked opponents, but I: (A) don't have the time at the moment; and (B) haven't figured out how yet. Maybe I'll work on that in the "offseason."
