A total wipe is also somewhat unrealistic because you'd have an assload of players from the same starting season, followed by a hell of lot less than in 2-4 seasons afterwards.

The solution of course, would be to start a new server with a fresh copy GLB on it, and those who want to move to the new machine can. They could even charge 200 FP upfront to make the move so that they could be sure enough people wanted to move to warrant a new server.

To an extent, but not nearly the same degree. A total wipe would mean that everyone who wants to keep playing the game would create players for that first season. It would be chaos.

Well just curious because since this is an application and in software applications there's always a life cycle for projects (or software/application whichever term is the applicable) like GLB.

I believe right now GLB is in the middle of something like Testing phase because its still in Beta stage. Then usually when the product is finished and released for use, the production server or destination gets overwritten (if there is a previous version of the application that exists) OR its a brand new installation thereby making it ground zero implementation.
