And, here's today's report.....
D.C. Turns Game Into Track Meet.
In week one, the Dodgy's of PBNation overrun by the single-minded rushing attack of Golden State. It had to be their single-minded focus this week, to not let the same thing happen again. Meanwhile, the Diabolicals of Dread City arrived with twice the threat behind the quaterback, and, certainly, a desire to run just as effectively as those talented Gorillas. Everything was set for a field position battle, with control of the line being key, and late heroics certainly possible. Instead, a track meet broke out...and the Diebos' two back tandem took all the medals.
By halftime, D.C. had over 150 yds rushing, and a comfortable 21 to nothing lead. By the time it was all over, they vaunted tandem of Miller and Tartabull would post a combined 314 yds of rushing offense, with 4 touchdowns. While Tartabull's performance matched his game last week, it was Miller who took his game to another level. The "Thriller" averaged 5 yards per carry on route to 125 yard performance. And, he likely had the play of the game, when, midway through the second quarter, he took a pitch to the left 12 yards, broke two tackles, and then outraced two Dodgy linebackers to the endzone. That score made it 21 to nothing Diebos', and with their defense putting on a clinic, it was, effectively, the nail in the coffin for the boys from PBNation.
So, how was it that the men from D.C. were able to run so effectively despite everyone in the stadium knowing what was coming? Simply put, the spectacular line play of the Diebos' offense made all the difference. The unsung heroes of the team, the "big nasties" upfront combined for a whopping 69 pancakes, led by guard Baines Rothchilds 19 and center Adam Crevs 18. On a day the Dodgy D hoped to be talking aboutlast minute stops and forced turnovers, they were left with little to discuss other than whether the clouds over Death Valley Stadium looked like bunnies or cows.
The Dodgy's will have to go back to the drawing board, as the saying goes, otherwise, they risk letting every game turn into an Olympic Trial.
D.C. gets to return home having started the season two and oh for the first time in their short history, just in time to prepare for the Outlaws of Las Vegas. And while the season hasn't produced any awards yet, Miller and Tartabull can at least brag about all the silver and gold they earned with this weeks outstanding performance.
