Upcoming Games of the Week:

ALPHA CONFERENCE
Hattgenstein vs. Global Gym
- As ABBA would say, "The Winner Takes it All." Barring a tie, one of
these teams has to experience defeat for the first time in 11+ games.
The winner also solidifies its place as the best team in Alpha and its
grasp on the #1 seed for home field advantage throughout the Alpha side
of the playoffs.

.

More like the Bus is gonna be saying Gimme, Gimme, Gimme the rock. And then Hattgenstein is going to be calling S.O.S.. Then GG will be chanting Money, Money, Money with the #1 seed. And that's the Name of the Game. tee hee.

,,,Fernando!

Did the Bus play?

Upcoming Games of the Week - Although there are various games that promise to be close (e.g., Davenport vs. Sicily, Chernobyl vs. Portuguese, Cologne vs. Hessel), I've limited my review this week to those that could affect the playoff race.

ALPHA CONFERENCE
Antwerp at Jellystone Park - The Bruins are riding high after their thrilling 10 point victory over the Kings. Can they keep the winning streak alive? Can they overtake Maranello for 14th place in Alpha? The Sofa Kings will have something to say about that. If Antwerp is full of optimists, they may recognize that their playoff hopes are still technically alive, so long as they win out and the Aces lose their last two. If Antwerp is full of realists, they will recognize their season is over as with London facing Pamplona this week, the London victory will seal Antwerp's fate.

Flying Monkey at Black Country - In what is probably the game of the week, the current #5 and #6 seeds square off to decide those seeds. Simply, if Black Country wins, they will take the #5 seed by virtue of the head-to-head, but still have a tough game against Mannheim next week. If the Armada win, they cannot end up worse than the #5 seed.

Hattgenstein at Dublin - Only pride is on the line for the Volunteers, as they have clinched the #1 seed for Alpha, and will have home field advantage on the Alpha side as long as they keep winning. Realistically, Dublin also doesn't have much to gain from this week. With a win, they could potentially have the same record as the Knights, and with a win next week against the McKrackers (and a loss by the Knights to the Jaguars), they could take the #6 seed. Likely, however, the Anarchists will begin the playoffs in their current #7 position.

London vs. Pamplona - Not sure what is going on with the Bulls, but something just isn't right in Pamplona these days. London should get the win and secure their place in the playoffs. Pamplona should get the loss and continue their downward spiral.

ZETA CONFERENCE
EASTWICK at Rome - The way the Poison have played after their loss to Eisenhower, it doesn't look to be a close game, but the Savages could pull out the shocker. A win will keep Rome in the #2 spot if Normandy can outlast Mannheim, but Rome could find themselves alone at the top with a Jaguar upset. A loss by the Savages could drop them into a tie with the McKrackers and Crabs. Eastwick currently holds the tiebreaker (points scored is 17 above the McKrackers and 35 above the Crabs), but a low scoring affair against Rome could mean trouble as Eastwick also has a tough matchup against the Vols next week. (The McKrackers could put some points up in their games against the Dublin twins, and the Crabs are sure to put up a load of points against Brasilia and Davenport).

Dublin at The Shady - Speaking of Dublin, they look to feed off their upset of the Panthers and add to their 5 game win streak by taking care of business against the McKrackers. With one win in its last two games, Dublin will lock up the #4 spot, but it is unlikely to climb any higher even if it wins out as Bundy should easily win its last two games. A loss at this point for the McKrackers could send them out of playoff contention as the Savages hold a game advantage and the Crabs clearly end with the more favorable schedule.

Tilburg at London - In another matchup of the current #5 and #6 seeds, the same thing is at stake for both teams. The winner should take over the #5 spot. If the Pounds prevail, the Ligtning will end up at #6, while a Lightning win could drop the Pounds down to the #7 seed.

Mannheim at Normandy - Simply put, Normandy controls its own destiny. With wins in its final two games, it will guarantee itself the #1 seed and home field throughout the Zeta side of the draw. Mannheim, however, is always a fiesty team and a test for anyone. They also need the win here to cement their seed in the playoffs. With games against Ike and the Knights, Mannheim could easily go 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2. Even if they lose all of their games, they should still be in by virtue of their head-to-head wins over the McKrackers and the Crabs, but with two wins, they hold an outside chance of getting the #5 seed.

Thank you, goodnight, and stay classy Western Europe.
