Speaking of FG Power, it'd be cool if Chip Shot SA worked off % of max range rather than just 21,22,23 yards at bronze/silver/gold.
Say 0-100 FG Power dictates your ability to reach 40-65 yard FGs. If chip shot was 50%/55%/60% of max range on each tier, it'd be a whole lot more valuable IMO. Then, assuming 40-65 is the "max range" scale for 0-100 power, chip shot would be eligible from:
FG Power: Bronze/Silver/Gold yardage limit
10 FG Power: 21.25/23.375/25.5 yards
100 FG Power: 32.5/35.75/39 yards
So at 100 FG Power, you could make up to a 39 yarder into a "chip shot" with the above example assumptions on FG Range.

I recall a discussion that described accuracy as your ability to hit FGs at different scales of your total range. So if you could increase your range to where a 40 yarder was only 70% of your range, instead of 90% of your range, then you'd get to use a 70% accuracy dice roll instead of the 90% accuracy dice roll.
So you could make yourself more accurate at 40 yards by increasing your accuracy or your range, and as such, there's a point of diminishing returns on accuracy to where eventually extending your range was better.
maybe I'm misremembering that though. If it's truth, that'd mean increasing FG Power should help you with kick accuracy on shorter kicks, in addition to letting you attempt 60 yarder type stuff.
I don't refute that power will play a small part in accuracy at range, I completely agree... but seeing as I only had 1 attempt at even 50 yards (FG is set at 55 iirc) it might only cost me 3-4 FGs per season (based on my number of attempts, etc..). Was about 60% at 40-49, (hypothetically) +20% only gives me at most 3 FGs over the course of the season.
Again definitely not worth the skill cost of kick power. And at that distance and % I'd rather pin em back at the 20 or even inside of that and take my chances at getting the ball back.

The point is that FG Power may be useful for shorter range kicks too. It might help on shorter stuff too by slotting it for easier accuracy dice rolls because the shorter kick is at a lower % of the total maximum possible range.
Let's say 100 accuracy gives you 95% base accuracy on stuff that's 50% of your range or shorter. Every step above 50% of your range will reduce the maximum accuracy linearly or exponentially or whatever from 95% down to whatever the minimum chance is at max range with 100 accuracy. Is that better when your range is 40 yards, or 60+ yards? Extending that 95% accuracy window out to 30-35 yards instead of 20 yards could be pretty valuable for a buuuuuunch of typical FG opportunities.

Then, as an aside for those that might be reading and unaware of it, we get off into the woods on how much does kick consistency, morale and energy impact that accuracy dice roll? Which is where the Kickoff specialist gains a ton of value.
It's not just about getting touchbacks to protect your coverage units from morale damage and pinning the opponent back at the 20. It's about keeping the FG specialist off the field on kickoffs so they're not cooking energy and morale running down the field and eating pancakes. Or wasting skill points on Kickoff power that's directly stealing points from their ability to make FGs.
There just can't possibly be a better and more efficient use of the roster spot or the salary than signing a kickoff specialist. You protect your defensive players and your FG kicker with them.

I'm already 23 of 25 (92%) from inside the 39 (one miss being at 39 yards), with only 47 kick power. Which is fine with me... At this point in his career he's kind of built the way he's gunna be built. A mid-range sharp-shooting FG kicker. So far it's the best we got, % wise.
I'll likely power up with the leftover points after capping consistency, but that only puts power in the low 50's. I guess we'll see.

that is interesting. Was just wondering since I've never seen it, and one of Robs 60 yarders looked like it could stretch to 65 at least.

I've been trying to figure that out all season... Our redzone tactics could maybe be optimized a bit, but more than half of his FGs have been outside the redzone, so there's more to it than that. Good thing our kicker is an absolute monster... 13 50+ yarders so far this season, which I;m sure is a record. Our FG settings might be back further than most (56/59). 59 is probably excessive, but I know he can make them from back that far, probably haven't analyzed if it's worth attempting them.
I don't have GLB2scout, so I can't analyze our offense as much as I'd like to

how often does the "max" range even get used? I bet 90%+ of all the FGs attempted fall under the "safe" FG range settings.
