I never keep extra blockers in before that, probably won't ever again eitherMy experience has been that the AI will auto-adjust to what is working. If your opponent was a scrub team then you effectively didn't get a good feel for it. I've done that extra blocker bit with all positions and it will eventually auto-adjust to running routes when certain dots are on the field and blocking when other dots are on the field. Screws up with your 1st quarter success a lot but by 4th quarter it is quite accurate (unless your opponent uses multiple defensive formations for the same offensive situation).
Personally I've not found the FB and HB to be great blockers in general because people tend to blitz with the same guys they use to cover the FB/HB. So this is very defensive specific and as a general case didn't give me any benefits.
My 2 cents on that has always been to scout the defense of the other side, if they are run blockers on strong side only, never use the TE to block (or do that only if the weak side is 100% pass rusher not mixed and force left side blocking 100% of the time). The protection against ROLB/RDE blitzers that a blocking TE (even a receiving TE) on the weak side gives you is usually pretty big. But then again I find more value in not losing yards then I do in big gains.
Thanks for doing that wise, I definitely need help in understanding how to make half-way decent OAI's so this should be of great help I think. Now I can learn why I suck so badly
