We got bodies to him regularly enough to stop at least a few drives if we could've made tackles. Adderfist generally had the right defenses called I thought.

We just don't tackle like a Salty or some other team with run defense bars over 100. But they pay for that ability in the paper-rock-scissors battle when we're able to light up Salty through the air.

I wouldnt draw too many conclusions from that, you shred our defense with morale normally, not due to other parts of our defense's builds, we've done much better against passing teams that don't attack morale. I have no clue what's going on this season yet though, that's all the past.

No doubt you had a ton of missed tackles, but you were also pancaked 97 times compared to a team like Salty who was pancaked 17 times and won fairly easily. You weren't touching HBs until they were 3-4 yards down the field already.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/144863/2450784 - Not touched until 6 yards
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/144863/2450827 - Actually got a shot at him in the backfield, but with a diving tackle attempt from a guy who has invested 0 into diving.

I think you should go back and watch that game if you think you had them slowed down enough that with better tackling and no changes to blocking you would have faired better. You had quite a few good tackles for a 2-3 yard game but most of the time RBs were not getting touched until they had traveled 5 yards or more.

Chicken or egg though. Are the pancakes piling up afelter missed tackle attempts? We don't end those plays as quickly with a good tackle, which exposes us to more punishment.

Won't discount what your saying though. We could certainly stand to be tougher against blockers which the nerfs will help some I'd guess.

Well the shitty part is against a running team your morale from blocking starts on the kickoff opposed to a passing team which only gets hurt on Kick/Punt returns. I think I remember your RDE getting pancaked on the first play of the game.

EDIT: I'm wrong, it was the 2nd play of the game and it was your LDE.

Either way, the defense just isn't made to handle teams that invest in power running like that. Pretty much just have to try to get multiple bodies on the HB at the same time.

Open Field tackle
No other defenders within 4 yards.

5 BRB, 5 Tack teq, 5 Grip.
15% minimum tack roll.

10 brb, 10 tack, 10 grip
25%

10 brb, 10 tack, 10 grip
50% - Plus lose no morale for getting dragged.

I still wish that even at vet there was some kind of free "respec 10-15K points" or something during the offseason.

It is very realistic (in my opinion) that a defense like Air Raids could spend all of the offseason and mini camps and training camp with a run defense focus (if they chose) to tweak things.

In all honesty - I don't think I would change anything on my D (value of a mostly single agent team) but that is one really bad aspect of GLB2 in my opinion -- builds can nerf a team permanently and it may not be fully noticed until vet. That isn't good game play (imo).

Sure - you can replace players and jostle your roster - but that also isn't great for the game imo (plus chemistry is a biiattch)

I'm just using Air Raid as an example here because thats what you guys are talking about. They are clearly a great team -- and clearly the #1 team in the game based on the ladder.

Air Raids defense or defense in general?

You get a free respec. What isn't realistic is becoming much worse at something you were great at to become a lot better at something you sucked at.

If you practice run blocking all offseason - every camp -- and nothing else
then it is actually pretty likely that your pass blocking suffers a bit.

If a QB (no one would recommend this) did nothing but throw slants all off season -- he will likely get better at throwing slants -- but his deep ball would likely suffer some with no practice.

Granted - not realistic that you could get a significantly faster top end speed...but certainly possible that a D lineman could get stronger -- at the expense of quickness.

Certainly possible a LB could work constantly on tackling skills and his pass coverage skills would suffer.

i could go on...but I'll stop there.

Would be interesting as your player progressed through Vet if he gained on Mental/Technique skills but regressed on physical abilities.

Or take one point off all skills and give that SP back if a player chooses. Kind of a "refocus" instead of respec on skills.

My team is good at defense. The offense is a balanced pick your poison, but stopping it isn't hard.

I didn't even gameplan, but I'd at least appreciate the respect of not pretending like you had me, but the sim screwed you.

If your team can't put up more than 14 points, credit a good defense and move on.
