Whatever, I just hope this will showcase holes in my team (for me to fix) rather than make my entire team look pathetic. But it's probably the latter.
It's the way of the world. Last year, my team drew a few top 10 J-man teams early, had some tough losses, but they don't hurt your ranking much (you're going up vs someone 16 spots ahead of you, globably) if you lose, but you get a nice boost when you win. We were beating Jmen by the third ladder game of the season - the skill points aren't as much of a difference as you'd think they are.
