This. Sorry I was waiting to see if Carolina was going to send it first.

I agree it's stupid and i'm left scratching my head. There's really no good option to shut runs down right now.

Tbh, Defense in general is so hamstrung right now that if you're in Junior and hold the other team to less than 21 points you're doing an amazing job.

Plenty of teams have shut down my running in scrims so far this season.

With kinda a backwards notion of doing so imo. But it is what it is I guess.

Guess I don't understand what you are saying, are you saying that the blitzing inside rush defenses aren't working for you? Or just rush defense in general.

Which game? Because 3.4ypc isn't really shutting the run down.

Holding a team to 3.4 YPC is an amazing feat and is a number that a team can't sustain a consistent offense with.

Looks like a pretty good example of what he should be doing. Following the HB, and not letting him get outside of him. Yeah, the play call pretty much puts the safeties and MLB out of the play when the HB cuts back inside, but the LOLB actually looks pretty logical to me.

The SS missing his tackle doesn't help much, though. If he makes it, it's a 2-3 yard gain. Can't really afford having players whiff plays in a Cover 0.

I totally understand that point which is why i brought that up. Mostly I was disappointed in the guy who left his position to make a perfect position to the HB to have a lane. And I know this is so early to even talk about whether that is a good decision and what not but regardless it felt like he just left his positiion on purpose. So if he was of low positional awareness he shouldn't have done so? I dunno...im just trying to excuse or unexcuse stupidity or play design?

He left his position because that's where the HB was going.

So the play design is the LOLB takes himself out of the play in order to make that SS go into that hole? I can get behind that but it is probably not gonna be a comfortable answer and i wont be calling that play anytime soon.

Um...the LOLB wasn't out the play. He was in front of the HB until he got blocked and the HB cut inside : /

But yes, "don't let them outside of you" is a pretty common containment practice.

well..he ran towards the DE straight away...and ya that wasnt the best indication...but it is what most of them do. It isn't smart or anything near smart what they are doing. and i completely understand at this point i cant understand their movement with lack of attributes. But some of these things should be ok. Otherwise you run into the problem where 90% of plays aren't usable for levels under vet league which is the exact problem you want to resist.

I can accept that on the fact the realistic play is the HB could be going outside the pocket.

Don't know man, you're going to have to link a different play to convince me. No matter how many times you say it "wasn't smart", the LOLB looks to be doing exactly what you'd want him to do.

If he doesn't follow the HB, then outside rushes are a free TD.
