Honestly coverage still had its limitations on the server but you do get people in position better due to faster speeds, better awareness and footwork skills, and they actually make plays because of full abilities and high deflection and/or intercepting attributes. That isn't to say offense was shut down by any means. But when games are 50-40 and decided by a couple interceptions, those SS secondary players really come in handy. Also something to think about is the fact a SS CB can build both coverage and stress their tackling skill at the same time. That is pretty valuable when it comes to vet league and PB's are dragging defenders all over the place.

thats sorta what i thought, that there are like 7 attributes that need to be "good enough" to get you into the right positioning vs your guy
it definitely makes sense that you cant get into position even at the end of sophomore level because you just dont have enough of everything yet, it is however good to know that we will see a change in this bad coverage because of bad positioning
are most games closer to 50-40 on the test servers instead of some of the defensive matchups we see sometimes at lower levels, or was that just an anecdote to express the value of *DBs?
i've seen a couple of high ranking teams finish 7-0 more than once

There were games where Cdog, DD, and Blaine were able to hold my DC team around 20 or so. Definitely seemed random at times though when it came to Blaine or DD's team but I want to say Corndog got a pretty good grip on my pass game. Granted I changed absolutely nothing about it over that stretch and I didn't use 5 WR really at all (which right now is the single most frustrating thing a DC can see over and over). But a lot of games were really high scoring. Generally in the 30's. And those games were usually decided by turnovers.

interesting
so turnover SAs etc might be the most valuable defensive traits?

They always have been. But that isn't to say that is the best way if doing things either. My experience on he test server becomes more irrelevant with each passing season.

I'm beginning to wonder if guys in coverage react more to the "route" and less to the actual receiver. I'm seeing some of my CBs in man break with, or sometimes even before the receiver does, and end up running the same route, only a yard or two AHEAD of the receiver.

A defender in single man coverage is usually supposed to try and stay on the inside hip of the receiver, or as close to it as possible, and react to the receivers movements (breaks in routes, looking for the pass, going for a block).

I could read through the 7 pages here, and I'm sure it's been said before, but this is what I'm seeing. I think this was an issue in GLB1 as well.
