They measure different things - the power poll is just league performance, the matrix is overall GLB performance.
However, it's interesting to see the correlation.

The matrix rankings are really weak at this point in the season, though, and of course they have no predictive value at all (especially at this stage).

I've always wondered if the matrix could somehow take an average as the teams who play a million games wouldn't have an advantage but that probably won't work.

SoS can be calculated additively, but I've never gotten around to figuring out the proper formula and giving it to Nibor.

Give more strength to the Quality of Wins instead of Quantity of Wins.
