Funny thing is Providence was almost up shits creek without a Punter - spent so much time recruiting everything else, Punter was left in the dark - but luckily we were able to nab a nice build today.
dude, I always forget about the punter... should roll without one tbh

Then you will have no shot of having an elite effective level.

edit: even after the 15 or 16 dots boost we'll still be lucky to break 1100

The only season it was worse was the time when TKW, Valhalla, Blaze, MPHD and Hali were all in the same conference (s13 or 14). That was unreal. MoD was in the opposite conference as was maybe lincoln. Neither were a match for that insane top 5 though imo
This season seems pretty lopsided. Not to say there aren't good teams in zeta, but i think the depth in alpha is perhaps the most lopsided it has ever been. Still, once the playoffs start, both are tough because once you make it, all that matters is winning the gold and that's equally tough. Which conference it's harder to make the playoffs is is pretty lol though.
Still, it's fun to watch those things play out with some storied teams battling to keep WL hopes alive. I think this past season ended up relatively even despite what it seemed like early on.
That season you're referencing was pretty lopsided, but only at the top. Basically 5 of the top 7 (and arguably the top 6) teams in the game were in the same Conference. But after that, it was pretty balanced. Hell, the Nashville Hounds won 10 games in that Conference, and they've demoted like 4 times from WL in "lesser" Conferences. Pretty sure KC Rams made the playoffs in that Conference and if you weren't handicapped and actually game planned against them, you shouldn't have lost.

I just feel bad for the new guys who have to fight through such a stacked lineup of returning teams.

yah, it's just silly not to have some sort of reasoning behind the sorting other than just "random." Down in APL, there's one Conference that has repeatedly received mulitple WL demotees, while the other gets none. The season Lion got 5 new teams, 4 of which won 12 or less games in Reg. Pro. Elephant got 2 WL teams and a 19-1 promoted team. On top of that, the Conferences were already ridiculously off-balanced. Hell, Elephant had a team knock Hali out of the GLB tourney that couldn't even make the playoffs in Elephant last season. And then they add 2 more WL demotees to the mix. Why we can't use some sort of logic is beyond me.

Canada was like that as well. It seems like just about everyone was getting put in the West, so QCBC & Providence asked into the East.

Demotions seemed pretty good this season; was that just my imagination? Looked like most demotions split into different conferences - RIRW into USAPL West, South Otto and Hounds into USAPL East (all three where they came from), for example.

The conference sort can't be completely random--Bort makes sure that my TEs never wind up in the same conference. This will be 5 straight seasons in which one will be in Alpha and the other in Zeta.

Definitely the highs and lows of finally making WL. Sucks to be put into such a tough conference after promoting, but we're still gonna give it our best shot and try to surprise some teams. Maybe I can harness some of that Juggs magic from this past season.
