I respect you, but this is really a bitch move. If you have no intention of trying to make the World League, then forfeit your conference championship game. If you try to win that game, then you ought to have the integrity to follow through and try to compete at the higher level. Honestly, I thought our team would get our heads kicked in and be sent right back down, as we never expected to win our conference last season either. But we decided to honor that achievement and try our best instead of waiting another season when we would be better prepared to go against the game's top teams.

The thing is though, if they stay in their Pro League next season, they risk missing out on the World League opportunity unless they win their conference again. If they move up now, then whether they do terrible or just miss the playoffs, they get sent back down. And then his team is going to be playing at Pro during their best season.

Not sure "best season" is entirely accurate, but I agree. Valhalla might have declined promotion if we had won SLAP in S11 for the same reason. I'm not sure we could have made the playoffs in the WL in S12, and it would have been a pretty huge waste if we would have been in SLAP this season instead of here.

So forfeit the conference championship, like I said. There shouldn't even be an option to decline promotion to the World League. If you aren't willing to take on the challenge, then you don't deserve the right to compete for it.

This makes no sense. It's not like the only reason pro conference championships exist is for WL promotion. They've played the whole season to get to that point. They already forfeited the promotion aspect of the game, why can't they just play it out?

Your whole argument is that they don't "deserve the right" to try to win? Just because they are serving their team's best interest? WL is not the end all be all of GLB. Get off your high horse.

No, I'm saying that declining promotion should not even be an option. If you win, you're in. Bitching out is a coward's move, regardless of whether or not it's the "right" time to take on the game's best teams. Providence took that same risk. We weren't a juggernaut coming into the WL undefeated and expecting to stay up here. Frankly, I agreed with the many who talked shit to us and said that we'd be 1 and done. That's what I figured would happen because we were at such an extreme level disadvantage and had no level 64 equipment. If we hadn't made the playoffs, we'd be spending our plateau season back in Pro, and then hoping for one more shot at the World League in decline.

So if you're going to bitch out and not take the challenge, then you shouldn't even be competing for that spot. If Bort would do the right thing and not allow promotions to be declined in the first place, then forfeiting the conference championship would be the only way to stay out. Being able to get a trophy and then act like pussies who are too scared to compete is ridiculous. Hell, back in the old days if you won BBB or A and advanced to the next level, you knew that it meant getting your face kicked in for a season. It was a price people were willing to pay because that beating came with a shiny trophy attached to it. Now people want to win, then be able to stay in a place where they can just keep winning. That's bullshit, and Bort shouldn't allow it.

In all seriousness, why would you support the option to decline promotion?
