GG LOL, we didn't think we could beat you straight up if you ran the Strong I and took a gamble. It didn't work, good luck the rest of the way.

Para, and the rest of DD, you won't believe a word of this, and that's your choice, but we did the slam spam because I thought you guys were going to. You'd said several times that you were going to do it, so I assumed it was coming. To me, the best D against it is to have the O do it also. Slow down the game, becomes a closer game, and whoever's D makes a critical stop or gets a turnover wins. We haven't used it in a conference game all season and really had no plans on doing it in the playoffs until it seemed it was no longer an option not to.

No worries man...

I doubt Bort "gets it" after saying this 3 months ago:

wow...i read that earlier today and didnt realize it was from an old thread...im gonna knock bort's teeth out

No, kidding. The only thing worse than Season 8, has been season 8 playoffs. What a friggin train-wreck. Bort, should have prevented this. When he didn't prevent this, he should have then stepped in and stopped it. I'm done spending money on this game.

Give Bort a break, he did fix the strong I offtackle by nerfing elusive backs and reducing speed past the line. The strong I slam is a completely different play, just like the one for next season will be.

Repeated plays...

No doubt. This has been a pretty sick time for GLB. I used to really love this game but it's made me want to vomit lately.

Especially the playoffs.

I'm saying the over/under on how many strong I runs in the Phant Conference Championship game is 140

I'll take over.

Who wants some of this action?

Said it before...sucker bet. Set the over around 190, 200 and I might put some action on the under.

Maybe.

I'm thinking one of them will run a trick play though. A strong I pass!! Offensive GENIUS!

What this pass thing you speak of?

I think it's a QB run play where he fumbles in a forward direction.

Or something.

I used to think it was a matter of fixing the run game or even just the Islam plays. But now I realize that's the key right there. Its the nature of the beast that we will always probe for a weakness. You've got a crapload of teams each doing the same thing. Sooner or later someone will find the weak spot and expose it whether it's a run or this thing of legends called a 'pass'. Bort's got to add enough plays for variety and then find a way to put in diminishing returns for the repeated plays. Without it every season will turn into the same thing.

Since we can't control how many times we run a play, I am not sure how this will work. It would suck to be penalized for repeatedly running a play just because circumstances happen to fall that way (say 3rd and 1). There's probably something clever that could be done there, but I don't think penalizing repeated plays is the answer unless he added some offense AI setting that said "Don't run this play more than X times no matter what."

Its not so much diminished returns on running a play too many times, it aught to be approached that the defenses smartens up when a play is run repeatably. Preferably by a vision check for defensive players to key in on a play the more times it is run, the more the runs, the lower the standard of the vision check. It would be an incentive for defensive players to continue focusing on vision in the front seven, as well as help diminish the abuse of any one play. Also, if it is a 3rd and short, and you run the same play over and over, you may still get it if your team is better / mismatches, so it doesn't nuke an offense for running one play for what is deemed "too many uses."
