Here is your directions: Choose one of the following topical debates and take a position. State with clarity your position by describing in detail the fruits of your rational mind. Demonstrate your powers of discernment and skill by examining research that has been done salient to your chosen topic. Asking questions about the various self-interests represented in the research that you cite may, again, help you to examine things critically. Further, you can question the very findings of published data in an effort to identify possible intervening variables that the authors may have missed. Your position can be enhanced if you hold reasons not listed in the literature for your position. This is your opportunity to fashion an academically rigorous paper

ISSUE 2. Does Immigration Contribute to a Better America? YES: John Cassidy, from “Alien Nation,” The New Yorker (April 10, 2006) NO: Peter Brimelow, from Alien Nation: Common Sense About America’s Immigration Disaster (Random House 1995) Peter Brimelow, Senior Editor at Forbes and the National Review magazines, argues that the United States is being overrun by a growing tide of aliens who are changing the character and composition of the nation.
