What's so hard to believe about that?

Maybe you're the one that's batshit crazy for assuming a federal agency can't build an entire company for nefarious purposes. The BATFE has been caught a number of times doing it in past years alone. You know the more clandestine agencies are doing it...

Right, because a group of government agents conspired with a terrorist group to kill thousands of Americans, and nobody said anything about it. No one felt guilty in the aftermath and came forward. And in the investigation of the communications with the terrorist group, no one has been able to trace a connection back to some domestic mastermind.

Sounds way more plausible than "the terrorists acted alone in killing thousands of Americans and destroying buildings they swore to destroy ten years prior".

There aren't Edward Snowdens in every organization. For you to assume the public will eventually know everything is just as unrealistic as saying otherwise.

You must think the CIA is completely incompetent.

You are batshit crazy. The Federal government can't even build a working website.

Not to mention it would be a logistical nightmare to place thermite box cutters on all of the steel beam joints via elevator shafts. Plus one of the biggest CT meme's was to show a picture where "molten steel" was coming from the corner of the WTC. Well guess what? The elevator shafts are nowhere near the corner of the building which would mean that some other nefarious group would have had to place thermite on exterior beams. That means that they would have had to expose beams and place cutters without being noticed. The entire idea is only believable by people who believe the 'Mission Impossible' movies are possible.

Right. I just have to believe that the American government would knowingly kill thousands of Americans and destroy a very important economic landmark. Because they needed an excuse to go to war... with the country that was not accused as being involved... and because of insurance reasons... and they worked together with the enemies of the country to do it. Oh no wait, they did it because they wanted more money in the anti-terrorism budget! Or wait, because they wanted to prove that America was weak and needed more restrictions!

No, that makes much more sense than:
"the terrorists acted alone in killing thousands of Americans and destroying buildings they swore to destroy ten years prior"

To believe that this could be done with a small cell, outside of the knowledge of the main organization (who were tasked with stopping terrorism) is asking a lot. To believe that a larger group put this in place and that none of them ever came forward with proof of it later is stretching the imagination.

Why not? There were multiple times that many people killed in the war, and pretty much every war in the last two hundred years. Why do you believe our government official really cares about the lives of a few thousand citizens?

Not really. It's just confirmation of your blind nationalism.

Because they would have to be sociopathic to do what you are suggesting, and they would all have to be sociopathic together to enact it (and sociopaths don't tend to work well together). And they included enemies of the country in the plan, somehow without the enemies of the country knowing that they were mere pawns?

Can you honestly rationalize your beliefs?

More importantly, if the government only wants to remain in power, why would they do something that would risk not only their power, but their very lives and freedom? And to what fucking end?

What did they want that they couldn't have gotten without killing thousands of people and driving down the economy? War? Oil? Aluminium?

Just stop there, because you assuming that they are caring is wrong. The people that run our government are sociopaths. Just look at the actions of those who are in overt office.

I already rationalized them. Look at the wars and why we fight them. You're a complete fool to think that a few thousand lives are "unthinkable" of a cost for folks in positions of power.

Do you realize what came about after 911? The patriot act? Dept of Homeland security? The war on terror? Do you realize how high the stakes are/were?

Furthermore, it's completely preposterous for you to say that 9/11 threatened the freedom of those in power. A disaster like that is a political opportunity on every level.

I meant if they were caught. They would be imprisoned or given the death penalty. They would be branded traitors and terrorists of the highest order.
