this just in...

Halliburton will pay $200,000 for destroying evidence and obstructing justice in the gulf oil spill that killed 11 people and spilled 5 million barrels of oil

●Halliburton will pay the maximum fine for a misdemeanor, but the $200,000 is equal to just under four minutes’ revenue for the company.

●The company will pay $55 million to theNational Fish and Wildlife Foundation, but that payment might be considered tax deductible since the foundation, a conservation grant-making organization created by Congress in 1984, is a nonprofit group.

●The “cementing technology director” who instructed two colleagues to destroy computer simulations that would have been evidence in the investigation of the oil spill has retained his anonymity and continues to work for the company, officials said. That, some legal experts say, undercuts whatever deterrent the case might have against future misdeeds.

god bless america.

This video was 7 miles Northwest of my house today. People were in those two cars and 2-5 (conflicting reports) more washed down before and after.

This was one of my favorite walkabouts, not far from a natural spring that is tapped up into a drinking fountain / water bottle fountain

Torrential downpour on a burnscar ended up in some of the worst flooding the city has ever seen. At least one confirmed fatality, a few others reported missing. We cannot catch a break.

She Already gave back 38k and still "owes" 80k. I find it interesting that she isn't convicted for abuse of confidence or theft. But then again, a few months ago Mike Duffy wasn't recognized as seach eitehr....

2 people confirmed dead in flash flooding.

Coincidentally, the flash flooding only exists because there was a huge fire from it being too dry and now the scorched ground cannot hold water.

Last 10 days we've gotten over 4 inches of rain, they're enjoying it. But what helps the farmers results in flash flooding here. Either way, someone is getting hurt. It's just been ridiculously strong storms dumping the rain down in a torrent instead of a nice long steady rain. In 2 storms this week we have gotten 1.7 inches in one hour and 1.4 inches in 30 minutes
