misconception... our farm team is very competitive and always looking to win.... our current farm team records are 8-0, 7-2, 7-1. and 5-3.... and have always been run to be competitive.....

And yet...

Doesn't sound like you have the same motives that the rest of your league does.

Again, just because the game allows farm teams doesn't mean they deserve any special handling.

I cannot count the number of guys who simply quit boosting and tell me they are no longer spending money on this game. The majority of them never post anything in these type of discussions. They just simply stop paying to play. The reality is that GLB is supported by the top 10% of users. The rest simply do not care enough to pay for the flawed sim.

the reality is that you only talk to about 10% of GLB users so you really have no clue what reality is.

Hopefully they decided to quit and nothing bad happened to them, but there has certainly been a substantial number of large flex users who have left the game.

I've seen that happen a lot - and there are a lot of lesser well known guys who have just wandered off as GLB failed to keep their attention. This sort of change isn't going to bring them back.

No, it's because GLB satisfies a niche market. It's a very, very expensive game that will only appeal to a small segment of the population.

Very well put. I'll bet the incoming stream of new players has dropped off significantly. For seasons we've been hearing "Of course no one cares about the old timers. They are appealing to new players." Well given that you can't play at a decent level without waiting through 80+ days of slow building I don' t think the new player is who Bort is focusing on, and I don't think that forcing old timers with high level teams who decide to slide the team down to a lower level and start over to lose a bunch of cash in the process is going to make them love the game more either.

actually, it's quite the opposite

Coaches was an attempt to keep the old timers on top

This change helps out all the old timers that already dropped their teams

GLB continues to pander to those people

And for all those people you know, there are other people just starting the game, just getting the hang of it and dumping money in.

Also, people forget that a big reason you've seen a lot of longtime people quit is also because GLB is almost 2 years old at this point. 2 years old playing the same game will wear a lot of people out especially with how time consuming it is to be at the top. Not to mention that after 2 years you just kinda get tired of it

I'm at the point where i'm no longer enamored with GLB. My interest probably peaked around seasons 8-11 (i started season 1). I still like GLB and see it for what it is. It's still fun and interesting and i will continue to play but most of that doesnt' come from rule changes but just playing the same thing for so long. I suspect that this will happen every season as people start hitting that "wall". Is inevitable though even if a full reset happened or if the sim was better or if there weren't new rules. People will always get tired and quit. Others ragequit and let everyone know about it though because of immaturity

I agree hitting the wall has a lot to do with it. I think Rage quitting is the minority. Most people simply burn out. I think the constant changes exacerbates this.

No. A total reset won't happen.

1 - my main team http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=4127 - plenty of cash and does well
2 - Memphis can sign 30 players and earn media money very easily if that's the route I choose to take - not difficult - I have no plans to demote that team - if I wanted to do that I would have done it last season - I can keep the team loaded with cash until the farm team is level 36 and can all join the team - that's really not that difficult to do - would you rather this team stay in UM and lose a lot or drop down and have competitive games? hey, at least with the blowouts people will get their max XP - or I can sell the team and use my other team and build up the stadium, which is easy to do - haven't decided yet
3 - my main complaints
3a - Catch 22 had me write a financial guide knowing that they are completely re-doing the money - what a fucking waste of time
3b - The new system looks to completely dumb down the game relative to money - something I enjoy doing for many teams since player building consists of training every 2-3 days (whoopee) so CFOing is (was?) keeping me interested in this game
3c - having DD and R87 make their snide comments towards me really doesn't do much for me either
3d - we have an entire re-do of the money system and we're getting it in pieces - we need fewer bandaids and more complete solutions

The "new" people joining the game aren't coming in nearly the numbers or buying nearly enough flex to balance out the old people who left. Doing more stuff to annoy and drive away established users makes absolutely no sense, whether you justify it by saying that it helps "new" people or not.

All the more reason not to increase the annoyance factor. The people defending this rule change don't even deny that stadiums and cash are a big nuisance with no redeeming value. It makes no sense to force people to lose the things they already accumulated, and instead have to go through that nuisance all over again.
