Upcoming Games of the Week:

ALPHA CONFERENCE
Hattgenstein vs. Global Gym - As ABBA would say, "The Winner Takes it All." Barring a tie, one of these teams has to experience defeat for the first time in 11+ games. The winner also solidifies its place as the best team in Alpha and its grasp on the #1 seed for home field advantage throughout the Alpha side of the playoffs.

Flying Monkeeh Armada vs. Italian Stallions - The significance of this game, particularly for the Armada, may depend on the outcome of the Vol's vs. Corba's game. A win by the Armada can potentially put them in position for the #2 seed (if the Vols can beat the Corba's). A loss could drop them down to the #5 seed by virtue of their loss to Porto (regardless of who wins in the Vol's vs. Corba's game). The results on the Stallions side are a little more simple. A win puts them in the third spot for now, and a loss puts them in the fourth spot.

Antwerp vs. London - Unoficially, the winner of this game gets a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. A win by the Aces puts them a game up so even if they only get one of the next two (against the Bulls and Lightning), they still hold the head-to-head. A win by the Sofa Kings basically means lights out for the Aces. With finishing games at Jellystone and Siena, if the Sofa Kings win, I will guarantee them a playoff birth.

ZETA CONFERENCE
Dublin vs. Polk High - Another game with a lot on the line for both teams. A win by Polk keeps them in the hunt for the #1 overall seed, which it looks may come down to Points Scored as the tiebreaker. In that case, Polk needs to not only win, but to score a load of points in the win to make up for the 15 point advantage that Normandy currently holds. Luckily, Polk still has games against Siena and Jellystone, so lots of points are still availablin could give them the same record as Tilburg and/or Mannheim. While the Shamrocks hold the head to head against both teams, it would be nice to have a little more padding in anticipation of the season closer against the Stallions, and Tilburg's somewhat favorable closing schedule against the McKrackers, Pounds and Aces. Regardless of the outcome, Dublin should finish ahead of the Jaguars who end with a tough schedule (see below).

Mannheim vs. Rome - Rome enters the game with the same concerns as Polk High, but they are 22 points down to Normandy in the tiebreaker. With final games against Eastwick and Maranello, they should be able to score some points, but they need consistently high-powered offense in all three final games. If Mannheim loses this game, they can pretty much say goodbye to any chance of the #4 seed, and could end up with the 7th or 8th seed with their closing schedule of Normandy and Black Country.

Agreed on both counts. This is why I'll be in this League as long as I can, lol, too much fun here.

Good analysis, at the Aces we are gearing up for a big showdown against Antwerp. We interpret the same situation, a win for either team will get them into the play-offs.

It would be tough to change at this point. If the rankings were in any way subjective, I probably would have put Jellystone right before Sinsheim. But, because the rankings are purely numerical based on the scores, records, GLB ratings, etc., the only way I know to account for wins like that is to either re-do the weighting for all of the factors and find a weighting that puts Jellystone first, or account for wins by giving a score boost for wins over similarly or higher ranked opponents. I already do the latter, and the former would screw up all of the prior rankings. Honestly, the score in the game was close and the mathematical difference between Jellystone and Sinsheim is only 41 thousandths of a point, so I'm pretty happy with it at this point.

If we beat Dublin does this mean we move into the top two?!!??

Also, not sure if your spreadsheet is updated, at least not the link in the very first post.

Spreadsheet isn't yet updated. I've got it ready, but have been busy at work, so I've yet to take the 1.5 minutes necessary to do it. Maybe tonight.

More like the Bus is gonna be saying Gimme, Gimme, Gimme the rock. And then Hattgenstein is going to be calling S.O.S.. Then GG will be chanting Money, Money, Money with the #1 seed. And that's the Name of the Game. tee hee.

I thought there was a 1 ABBA reference limit for any post. I guess I was wrong.
