Hahaha. Now thats some funny shit. I would put money on the Swashbucklers (Our 6th Place team) beating Perth today. I'm a realist but pound for pound Zeta is deep in strength. Our drop off starts after the 9th ranked team IMO.
You rang?
By all means if I can facilitate a game, I'd love to see it. Its no offense to Perth and more about how good I believe our conference is. Your both Pirates too, I love the marketing possibilities! I'll be like the Don King of the whole thing.

what i think is trying to get across here is the fact that Alpha has a bunch of solid teams packed tight at the top while zeta has few while the rest are weak. this beefs up the stats for the good teams. furthermore, friendly's do nothing to prove which conference is better. fact is, this was not an argument. the argument was initially about stats in relation to awards. so lets keep this topic on awards and stop the arguing

Regardless who which conference is more competitive i think it is very say to say that Zeta has gotten a few new contenders, and we are much more competitive than past seasons. Seasons 1-3 it was easy getting into the playoffs, now we are all going to be battling this last weeks to try and get that playoff spot.

At 10-2, I feel we've gotten away with some tight games that could have gone either way, including our loss to Portland. On any given day, I think we could lose to ANY team in our top 9, that screams parody to me, not top-heavy. Our current 9th ranked team (Mt Isa) beat a full-strength LVSB team early in the season who was the favorite to win AA#1 at the time.
I'm done with this argument as well since facts don't seem to override opinion here. Lol.
I think this topic IS related to the thread because you guys in Alpha are trying to discredit the offensive accomplishments of Zeta teams. I still don't understand the math behind 8 of the top 10 RBs = 2-3 good teams. That implies that we have 5 RBs in the top 10 that are on bad teams?? If so, what does that imply about Alpha RBs??

ur exactly right about the facts not overriding ur opinion
Fact, the #1 rushing team , from zeta, has 4000 rushing yards with 12 games played
Fact, the #1 passing team , from zeta, has 3600 passing yards with 12 games played
Fact, i cud go on and on but since you refuse to waver your opinion even after u can see all these facts for urself this argument over stats vs awards is pointless
The Frogs will happily vote on player awards but if stats and personal favor are going to be the majority of the vote it is a waste of our time

The only solution that is going to come from this is to seperate each conference One for Zeta and one for Alpha. No matter what happens at the end of it the Zeta/Alpha people are going to continue saying what they have been.
I do understand and agree with what Oso is saying but that is the way it is. We don't decide what teams are in what conference or if certain teams do not know how to manage their teams. It is just like the NFL and the pro bowl. Look at the NFC and the AFC, deserving AFC playoffs teams miss the playoffs when other weaker NFC teams make the playoffs. It happens every year where a deserving player is left out of the Pro Bowl because of another players strength of schedule or his current teams game planning philosphy, example... A team split the carries between two HB's. Their starting HB's stats are hurt but it is what is best for the team.
Another thing about stats in this game are a bit misleading, this will also go with what Oso is trying to say I think, If a good LOLB in a bad team will have a ton of tackles as well as a CB. But put him on a good all around team his stats are not as good but is actually playing at a higher level. If you go by % he might be getting the most tackles on the team but actual stats are weak. I hope I am expressing my point across!!! haha..
We could have all teams vote for one player from each conference for each position. Change the structure a bit but it will make everybody happy and Zeta can think what they want and vioe versa without getting into a we are better than you war.

seperating it into two teams (alpha and zeta) would water down the award too much.
it doesn't seem like discussion on actual players to receive the awards is getting anywhere.

I agree 100% but there is no other way without people being upset, that has already been clearly stated.

So I fully understand what your trying to say but this is what skews my understanding. We are the leading passing team with 3600 yards currently and we at this point have yet to play 3 of the bottom 4 teams in Zeta. Would it be fair to say we've played similar competitive competition up to this point knowing that?

sure.... and dont get me wrong, it may be that the #1 rushing zeta does have the best HB's...i havent looked at any of their film to make that decision...i just dont want the stats to be the factor....and im seeing guys post that they shud be the #1 strictly on stats

I don't think anyone from Zeta is saying to strictly go on statistics alone, but we are a much better conference this season and that is very obvious. There has been upsets each week, that never seemed to happen in past seasons.
I'm not trying to put any conference on a pedistal. However I do believe that zeta is worthy for considerations.
At the end of the season we could all schedule a friendly match such as:
Alpha 1 vs Zeta 1
Alpha 2 vs Zeta 2
Alpha 3 vs Zeta 3
Maybe Zeta loses all 8 games, but there is no way to continually put down the Zeta conference until there is solid evidence that we just can't hang with the Alpha conference.

I agree that players on bad teams CAN rack up stats but that doesn't mean stats are useless.
I recognize that my LB Jordan Law was 2nd in tackles and 1st in fumbles forced in Season 3 because our team was so bad and teams ran like crazy on us in the 2nd half. I'm not saying that he deserved to be defensive MVP.
Sneaky Pete, my WR, was 3rd in receiving yardage last season, again, because we sucked and had to throw the ball the whole game. HOWEVER, he's currently 6th in AA#1 and we're 10-2 so he's on the leader board now because he's had success in helping us get wins.
We lost to the Portland Rain (#1) by 7
We lost to the Tasmania Devils (#4) by 10
We beat Mt. Isa (#9) by 7 points, who beat the AA#1 favorite LVSB (before the gutting) by 3
If we're currently in 2nd, lost to the 1st place team by less than we lost to the 4th place teams, but only beat the 9th place team by 7, how does that mean we only have 2-3 good teams that just beat up on the others?? To me, this implies we have 9 strong teams.
