Also, just to clarify, I wasn't a tester. That silly title went to anyone who played during the first 30 seasons. I've never had access to rest builds, a test server, or anything of the like. I was a Beta Player only.

specific people were invited to "test" things out. U had to be part of the "click" tho

His hand was forced a bit since the game server crashed and everything was wiped. I think he feels a sense of loyalty to GLB as his first born, so he didn't want to do everyone dirty by letting it fade to nothing.

And since he had to rebuild a lot of stuff, for a few months he was open to some improvements (accelerated building, OAI implementation which was a nearly completed project from long long ago).

But I think (understandably so) his attention and passion is not for 20 year old dotball which he hasn't worked on for 15 years.

========================

It's almost a shame, since if a GLB 3.0 existed which was mobile app based with ability to access via browser as well, I'm sure people would eat it up just like they ate up GLB 1.0. Lot of lessons have been learned from GLB 1.0 and GLB 2.0, and people have a thirst for a community related football RPG since its pretty cool. Would be nice to easily train players and watch games via a designated phone app.

But I imagine mobile apps are outside of Bort's wheelhouse and dotball is no longer his passion, there's a better chance of me winning the lottery without buying a ticket.

I really tried to get into GLB2, but it never felt complex enough to satisfy the problem solver in me. It seemed like everyone was going to end with the same build, roughly, if you wanted a certain thing. There was really no way to squeeze out some extra SP with a clever training stat (or lose several SP if it didn't work out).

I might be completely wrong and selling GLB2 short, but that's how I always felt about it.

If he did create a GLB3, I'd need some sort of building complexity to draw me in, I think.

I was not one of the cool kids, unfortunately. I liked my Punters and possession WRs too much.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I think it might be easier than you think to get advice from good builders.

BUT, maybe the game needs to encourage new agents to post in the main forums.

OR, maybe the game could create a new forum where when a new agent signs up it posts "John Brown has created an Offensive Tackle". This would encourage proactive team owners to start the reach-out process. If they didn't like the start of the build, they could ignore it. If they felt pity, they could choose to send them a message.

Experienced agents giving advice isn't really an issue. When people ask for it, it's generally given.

The issue is, getting new people involved with established agencies. If this happens, then you'll eventually have some of those likely to get more involved and branch off to own and establish their own teams. More than likely, inviting their family and friends to join them

Love the VA idea

A lot of these ideas are dependent on people being different than what they are. You can set up these great systems, plan a team, get all new agents, post in forums, TELL THEM EXACTLY WHAT TO DO, and yet when that dot hits Level 79, you end up with a TE that has 23 jumping and 12 Jumping Catch. You can lead a horse to water....

While that's an extremely fair comment, I also think there's a decently-sized middle group that would be willing to follow the builds provided, or at least follow some of the advice in order to make a better player than they would have otherwise.

At the end of the day, building a good player isn't a true/false situation, it's on a spectrum. So, sure, doing this might not result in many more 9s and 10s, but if it turns 4s into 6s and 2s into 5s, it's still a massive improvement.

I have a few experiments going on right now for punting, and if they pan out well, I'll probably do a thing on building punters. Does anyone really care about punters? Not really, but it's something I can speak on knowledgably, so I'll throw it out there and let people either do something with it or ignore it entirely.

EDIT: Typo monster got me.

I have no problem setting up another "Agents of Freedom" team where the roster is full of new agents or returning agents, and I can provide exact data on how to build an acceptable dot, what to choose for SA's, VA's, AEQ, CEQ. I can provide build guides for either 3AEQ or 4AEQ dots. This can easily be modified by people to experiment if they wish, and there would be agents available to answer any questions or to think tank any ideas. The main idea, at the end, when dots become Level 79, would be to hit the FA market and try and get spots on Pro teams. It would not be a cradle to the grave team. I only have room for 1 "serious" team right now.

I would help you with that if you like.

I'll be in touch if there's any interest.

It would be nice if Bort could create a drop-down menu of new agents recently signed up that automatically updates

Agent in my league that bought a team and built all the dots, but at the wrong time. So now he gets to struggle through a whole season or dots entire career just to find out he built dots 3 days too late…..

https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/home.pl?user_id=34550

I mean, if you are going to make a TLDR for this game, it should say don’t make dots on any days other than XX, unless you are just making practice builds.

I realize the information is out there, but it still takes a silly amount of time to figure out all the goofy things that will destroy your ability to compete.

I'd purchase the team for this! Just returned to the game and have been trying to find lots of different build ideas and strategies from where I have been able to see the information

Retaining the people that might get discouraged after a season or 2 with their dot when it doesn't bring interest can cause those agents to leave as they don't find excitement in the game. But definitely finding a way to encourage and uplift the new agents with good build guides and try to encourage activity in the team forums or others in general would be a great start. I know since returning, it can be sad or brings back nostalgia to remembering how active the forums would be, and the private ones as well. Would be incredibly awesome to bring it back to even 50% of that within a year or 2

I always liked the team building process... thru the age groups etc... and team forums helped alot with this especially when a few top agents made dots and helped others understand.

The forums are better than they were close to the crash and there is better banter ( think playmakers rather than darn cat multi enterprises !! Also there are more top agents and co-ords willing to help or enlighten others than previously

Those were the days when the game first started! It would be awesome to get back to that even if it's just a shell of itself. Something to work for! Was always great to have a good back and forth with top agents who would give feedback and help out with different strategies to help another out!

I have seen that since coming back recently for sure! Agents have been really good from what I've seen with their interactions with other agents, night and day to the toxicity that was here before
