The GA 5-2 Experiment has been completed now through Veteran. I'm not restricting our defensive coordinator for the remainder of our Veteran run

It's been fun, but the critical flaws against 2WR formation are plain to see.

I'm off to find a LB to give us some more formation flexibility.

There are a few ways, it's harder to find when you aren't affiliated with the team. If you are (through ownerships, GM, or have a player on that team), then here's what you do:

Bloody and Game of Zones, the two favourites, come out with close wins against ENMU and Walt Disney respectively. Congrats to kasaan and dredgar!

Two games coming up at 11 AM.

No Name takes on the Fire Breathing Sharks in a battle of balanced vs passing offenses. Both have had their ups and downs, and No Name took the regular season matchup 45-21 after falling behind 21-0 early in the game. We'll see if Fair (myself) can collect a second trophy today, or if marvin will get his first after his Eagles were upset by Trinity.

Madison Bulldogs are up against the Milwaukee Beers in what is the final game for the Beers. We'll see if Aeir can close off his vet season on a high note, or if TDiddy will recover from a crushing loss vs DA to at least secure a league title, something that evaded him last season in losing to the Stunners.

Honestly, I'd still rock your same D. How many teams in Vet can even run screens, and how many can run them as effectively as we do? Very few. Just going over your losses, the only screens you faced were against us.

Your D is still elite. It's always possible the same thing that happened in S10 playoffs happens in S12. Wrath and FSM play in wildcard, and Wrath knocks FSM off for you. No defensive flexibility is even needed.

Not sure I agree - defensive flexibility is always a plus. Adding another linebacker will allow them to run the 4-3 formation, which I generally consider to be a critical one. They can still run 5-2 - they just won't be forced to in cases where 5-2 is not optimal.

I would guess most people can run them effectively. Just don't anymore because they are so easy for DC's to contain. I would have probably run more screens against them when I played them but I really though that I could beat them far more effectively a different way and not have to worry about any fall down bs. I was wrong on that of course.

Pretty much this. We'll still have the 5-2 for 90% of the situations. We need to be able to get into 4-3 against certain teams in 2WR

Thanks. I've built my D around blitzing, and it seems to be working. Don't know how high of a blitz rate this is compared to others, but just checked Stobie's tool and so far this season I've blitzed on 67.3% of all D plays.

Why's it sad? We did what we set out to do. Try the 5-2 all the way up through veteran. Works pretty good except for teams that can realistically execute screen passes in 2WR. Those teams forced a poison pill choice on the DC from 5-2.

Now we're going to make tweaks to try and get the #1 trophy sometime in the next 3 seasons

Because its pretty much the only team I know that really sticked to the original plan and playded it out. Sad that this is now over^^ No integrity in here

But yeah. you did it all the way to vet, kudos for that! Going for the no.1 spot is a legit reason to drift away from it tho

heh, we'll still spam 5-2 a whooole bunch. We just need another LB to run some 4-3 agianst a few specific 2WR looks we get from a small handful of opponents.
