Of course it matters - because you can have the same discussion about strip too - in both cases it is an incredibly high point investment that may....at best....cause a fumble or INT once every 3 games. I'm agreeing with you that it doesn't seem like a great, efficient use of skill points.

Strip Technique will get dice rolls against an all-passing offense though. Interception will never even get pulled out of the box and dusted off against an all-rushing offense.

Could be another good set of skills to combine for DBs. Strip/Interception being the same raised skill could be nice. Or once again discuss lowering the SP costs. Maybe some skills should cost much less to raise for individual positions. Defenses are just such a pain to create as they require so much diversity.

Based on this thread my next CB is going to have no interception skill and throw that all into tackling grip.

Uhm yes...so you cant go 100 sprinting on each WR and expect to burn every CB with your wanted lobbed balls then. Damn, hu?
Really...now trying to come up with that post was stupid. on a HB as well you could use the points differently. But if you want to have no fumbles then fckin invest in carry grip. Period.
You act like every HB is able to hit each cap, lol. Sacrifices are needed on every position and if you dont want to hear what fixes your problem then dont cry about it

Yeah, but Opportunist will rarely fire against a passing team. A lot of situations where the receiver catches the ball, the corner covering him gets to him before anyone else.
And since most receivers have zero power running, any tackle attempt will immediately drop the receiver to the turf.

You can strip a guy without a gang tackler, and you can strip them on the first tick of a tackle.
That dice roll happens. I've seen fumbles from the first tick of contact without knocking the ball-carrier down before. My assumption is it's a strip if they're still on their feet.

Yeah, same. But it's rare. And the chance that Opportunist could fire is even rarer.

Strip Tech works fine without opportunist, my safeties and CBs that invested in it forced 3 fumbles against Air Raid

Should a CB with 75 INT skill intercept 10% of the passes thrown his way? 8%? 5%? 3%?
I honestly don't have a clue. Does anyone else have an opinion?
(yes - it isn't that simple as quick/sprint/vertical/awareness factor in as well)
Ya it most definitely isn't that simple. There is also placement of the DC and defensive consistency to add to that.

Actually Opportunist is firing a ton lately in sims I have seen.

More so against Passing teams because WR's aren't built with any fumble protection and forcing KL's and fumbles is the best way to impact teams like Air Raid and Alaska Assassins.
