I don't see how new plays are going to fix an unfeasible AI system. Unless the stars align I probably won't even be able to use most of the new plays because they won't quite fit just the right tag on the right down at the right distance.

LOL, no. I don't think anyone thinks there are no problems.

But it's a game and there is some RNG component to it.

What's needed is more variety of tagging. I've mentioned it before and in the thread where Cdog asked for new plays.

The mix between Short and Med Plays needs to be fixed.

Ya I've always believed that instead of adding the layer of complexity of allowing users to custom tag plays, they just need to be tagged appropriately. There are so many pass/run vs specific singular items like 'inside rush defense' that it constrains a slightly more 'hardcore' type coordinator.

Regardless, the system is soooo much better than GLB1's it's quite enjoyable. I find coordinating to be fun here as opposed to taxing. My gameplans (offense and defense) are all done (w/ the help of Stobie's tool) in about 15-30 minutes.

Hub beat a Journeyman team, but wait, they were ranked lower than us on the global ladder so we can take our ELO and shove it.

Beefing up the quantity of play types for each formation would be a god send. As it is, there are almost no medium inside blitzes. I don't think theres a single medium outside play. I honestly have never used Long before.

Its tough when one formation has a play type you really want to use, but the other formations don't.

[rant]

Man, the Goons game pissed me off to watch. Their QB must have less than 25 passing power. And you know what? It's freaking G E N I U S.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946493 - They get nice, pretty lead passes like this. Repeatedly. Or if it not, at least it's the incredibly beneficial comeback catch like this: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946940. There's NEVER an airmailed pass on a low power QB. And they just don't get punished trying to throw it deep at all. I get just as many bullet bombs deflected as they get softball comeback loft passes deflected. If anything, the WR is much better off coming back for a short throw on a 30 yard pass than watching the CB trailing him by 5 yards deflect a bullet. Those softball lobs are easier to catch too. I'm betting the Goon's don't deal with nearly the dropped passes I see on Air Raid.

It pisses me off to no end that I can't watch those same lofted throws, just further downfield to my streaking wide-ass-open 100 sprinting WRs. Cleveland's investment in passing power should NOT be a penalty, but it just absolutely is. And he's not even absurdely invested into it. 60s power. It's about 40 power too much though I'd wager.

I'm stuck watching this crap 6-10 times per game:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1945799 - NICE HEADFAKE!, let me airmail the shit out of this pass 25 yards down the field instead of lobbing you an easily caught bomb touchdown 40 or 50 yards down the field.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946313 - OMG you're so open let me slam this pass in there uncatchably hard and behind you so that you need to stop to comeback for it and drop it less than 25 yards downfield.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946702 - Definitely need a bullet airmail pass here. No way the 4.27 WR will be able to run and catch a 40-50 yard lob against a 4.88, and 4.75 CB/FS combo.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946732 - airmail
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946743 - uncatchable bullet, had to stop route to come back, might as well have been a lob softball. Not uncommon for me to watch a good rushing defense team get 3-4 Knocked Loose passes on these bad boys.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946754 - off target bullet, requires WR to bail out QB, otherwise another airmail

and the always entertaining dropped screen pass, likely also being influenced by power increasing catch difficulty, but who the hell knows:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1945315
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946148
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946260
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/160650/1946897

I watch this crap every week, and it annoys the piss out of me every week. Watching another QB capable of lobbing passes, even if they can only go downfield 25 yards, just pisses me off. My QB ought to be able to do that same thing 40 yards down the field at least.

Morale to the story: screw passing power.

Nope...as you pointed out, low pass power means also more lolballs.

If everypass would go the way you want then you would have TDs on every drive. Also...about the drops. I hate to see drops on Cobras as well but hey, they happen. Iven in the NFL team have games with 10 drops sometimes. It happens and we cant expect perfect games every time

Your demanding of every single pass is crazy as well. Its the same as we would demand "It cant be that hard for a WR to block the CB in front of him every single time". OFC we could expect this, but the running game would be outta whack then.

Or returns...what ppl demand there would also lead to like 2 return TDs every single game...wouldnt be nice as well^^

Do you really think pass power causes more drops? That would be stupid then...if anything, it should lead to tighter spirals, easier to catch for receivers...otherwise yeah, pass power would be useless like shit. So I think and hope you are wrong there

An absolutely justifiable rant, Richmond Raiders have a QB that does the same thing and it drives me crazy. QB throwing mechanics absolutely need to be adjusted.

I think his point is that the higher the pass power the better the chance a CB has to deflect it. When your WR beats single coverage and your CB throws a bullet to him it usually is deflected. If he would lob the ball and let the WR run under it then it would be better.

yeah...I see that. But as I tried to say...with 100 Sprinting WRs and the endless protection, this would lead to perma TDs if you just spam those plays cause which CB has that much speed?

It absolutely causes more drops. Shorter flight time decreases the chance for the WR to use receiving awareness to adjust their route to get to a better catching position, so they end up with more difficult catches. Also, the developers basically admitted this to be true when they designed the new "Quick Hitter" SA that intentionally lowers passing power on shorter passes so as to make them easier to catch.

It also causes even more flat out incomplete airmails.

What you're describing Pass Technique when you're talking about the skill that makes passes easier to catch.

If you want your own passing offense to fail more without the involvement of the defense, pump up your passing power. If you'd like to at least require the defense to cause the play to fail directly, don't touch your passing power. Frankly, my absurdely quick WRs would probably get more homeruns catching comeback softballs and then doing the really quick run around the defender moves that you sometimes see as the defender takes a bad angle back to the pass catcher. The number of just beautiful streak bomb touchdowns that I see in a typical season can be counted on one hand, usually against CPU teams. And the Goons blitzed us ALOT today. It's not like they were leaving shell coverage to stop us from throwing it deep. They get away with it because there's really not a pressing need to cover that deep anymore unless you just have woeful cornerbacks. You'll have just as much success in this seasons sim getting pressure and letting the QB/WR fail all by themselves. At least against us. Because we're suckers that have 60+ passing power on our QB.
