Problem with audibles is when they keep in players you don't want in advance from scouting it generally ruins your play all together and is more likely to end up in a sack.

I never keep extra blockers in before that, probably won't ever again either
That hasn't been my experience but fair enough. Pretty easy to turn off and to each his own.

Such a high percentage of plays go to the 1st read especially under durress. However I've had FB audibles on since forever and just this season it has been ruining my life as I like some plays where the FB 2nd read is very important, so I turned those off.

I agree - I never use audibles as I want to see all receivers running routes, if they blitz more than blockers, then someone's open...

Ok, trying to figure this out. Maybe there's something about the controls I still don't understand.
It looks to me like there's a couple of ways to allow say a FB/HB to be held back for a blitz block:
Basic Settings, OAI Settings and finally the play settings.
In the Pass Play Settings there are three choices (if he's not the first target): Pass Block, Default and Basic Settings.
Pass Block is simple. But what is the difference between Default and Basic Settings?
If I dial in Default he goes out on a route regardless, right?
And if I leave it "basic" then he follows the % bias set out in the Teams's Basic Offense Tab found on the Team's Tactics Page?
With the TE and BTE its clear. He either runs the fricken route or he blocks. But the choices for the scats seem fuzzy.

Chief you understand correctly. I'd recommend all OC's under their basic offense tab have 100 percent run route for all the hb, te, and FB positions. That way if you select use basic setting in error rather than default setting, they still run routes. This makes sense as you never want your offense to randomly keep people in to block for no reason other than probability. The audibles is separate completely as your qb or team will keep people in if allowed if too much pressure is sensed. This is completely unrelated to the basic tactic settings. If further clarification is needed let me know please.

your offense is probably better. the "open source" OAI is fine and great for new OCs but its missing a lot of end of half, catchup and end of game logic

yeah this open source ai is basic AF. but will help new OCs a lot
To each their own of course, and I expect most experienced OC's already have made an AI which they enjoy the format of.
With that said, the AI structure is exactly the one I use as an OC. As this point it ~never does stupid crap at the end of the half I don't want it to do, like passing in running situations, passing short when I want deep passing, not running out the clock, not kneeling, etc.
How good of an OC I am is something everyone can have their own opinion of and it isn't necessarily important for this thread. Still, I've been at least "somewhat" successful at the WL level utilizing this OAI. Obligatory OC resume link: http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5220808&page=1#48906674
Imho, the genius is in the simplicity. The meat and potatoes are how games are won and lost. Too many OC's hurt themselves with either (a) too many packages/plays ran, or (b) 2nd/4th quarter specific stuff that never happens and that they are unable to easily adjust.
Passing heavy the whole game when you are down by 21 points doesn't help your cause, that is why I don't do it in my AI. You need to trust your gameplan. My OAI goes to deep passing in situations that make sense near the end of the game/half where you have a >0% chance of actually coming back.
Lengthy reply, because if people see your posts then don't want a copy because they don't want to use a "noob AI" thats "basic AF" and "missing end of game" stuff, you are hurting the unicorn dotballer who wants to start as an OC. This is literally what I use, and any game I have lost in WL has been due to my gameplan, not due to some problem with the structure of this AI.
