holy crap, I can't throw at all this season, now that possession WRs are WORTHLESS. Cobb and our TEs are going to have to carry the load.

HBurg might struggle a bit to maintain our #4 ladder, even though I could see us passing Salty at #3 in the near future with a few easy ladder games.

I learned that the hard way once against the Virgins.

Is this the best all purpose defense in the game? Like the one play you can use in the most situations?

The blocking hasn't ever been the issue that tackling is. Rushing teams are filthy because you often have one guy to make the play, and if they fail, it's a touchdown. There's no defensive equivalent of power through or juke/spin for tackling technique. You either have really high tackling skills, or you get slaughtered.

This is probably the next O nerf, or D buff. Just bump the baseline Tackling skills "the hidden values/ base" by 5-10 points.

Less blocking = more guys trying to make a tackle

The missing ingredient is an SA that raises the tackle tech floor.

Kind of. Though as a general rule it is 1-2 guys that have the real ability to stop some of better plays that the best running teams use. Granted that also brings up pathing issues and defender sideline behavior.

There is no kind of, less pancakes and more broken blocks puts more defenders in the mix. Is there a play that has no counter in this game currently? I can't think of any. Some plays are better than others, but every play I've seen at least has a play that can stop it or at the very least slow it down.

fwiw Paraboon, our issue in the Minnesota loss last season wasn't getting guys to the ballcarrier iirc. It was the fact their ball-carrier was murdering our tacklers.

We got bodies to him regularly enough to stop at least a few drives if we could've made tackles. Adderfist generally had the right defenses called I thought.

We just don't tackle like a Salty or some other team with run defense bars over 100. But they pay for that ability in the paper-rock-scissors battle when we're able to light up Salty through the air.

This is also where I see diving as a cool stat, or at least my infatuation with it on defense. Bigger tackling radius, so maybe more overlapping circles for more gang tackling? Even bad tacklers do well when they can tag-team from what I see watching the sim. When they come one at a time though, even if its within a couple ticks, Jimbo and guys built like him just swat them down.

it's generally pretty bad against the pass, and a decent commitment to inside running can eat it up.

This is probably going to be the first season on GLB2 that I'm more worried about my offense than defense.

I didn't say there are plays with no counters. I said that it is generally 1-2 players who have the ability to take out the ball carrier on the best plays in this game. If they don't it is going to be a long run or a TD.

yeah this goes back to my thought about the blocking changes not yielding enough results. now that the passing game flows alot more realistically due to the recent changes, even tho those changes significantly effected (affected?) our teams style, i am on board for them because it was a good move for the direction of the game. the changes to the run game in form of the shed block update and blocking stat change were def needed and good tweaks to have been added, but i just do not think they were strong enough to really make a significant impact like the adjustment this season to passing did for completion rates. we should be seeing a more realistic total in the amount of pancake blocks and/or broken tackles just like the more realistic completion rates we are now seeing from QBs and receivers to bring more balance. i know the whole "its a game not a simulation" theory and the game cant be realistic in too many ways as the gameplay would suffer, but with a few more offensive nerfs and defensive buffs i think we can see some more parody and realistic box scores and yardage/stat totals at vet level.
