Not a very accurate ELO system if you put restrictions on it.

Seemed to generally work how it was supposed to this season.

Well to me, I don't think it successfully does its job.

To me, ladder games are supposed to find the best team in each tier. Right now, matching you up with teams in other tiers doesn't give you the chance to do so.

The main example that applies to me is that Hawaii will finish #2 in their tier despite playing 5 top 10 teams. Meanwhile, the team in journeyman that will finish #1 has not played one top 10 team.

Seems fair.

My punter is sitting on 18k sp. His 4 punting skills are all capped already. The other guy was right, don't need to boost them.

Not a very accurate ELO system if you only play inside you own tier twice all season. Like boss said salty will most likely finish 1st dude to an easier schedule and never having to play Hawaii in the ladder once.

I disagree as to the purpose. The purpose is to have a moving evaluation of each's team quality so that you can create meaningful games outside of league play that are more likely to be a competitive matchup than random teams in your league. And I think it does this job quite well, although I am not currently on a 2nd season team, so their experiences may vary.

The "top team in tier" awards for the ladder then just are kind of tacked on to the end as a fun bonus but I don't particularly pay too close attention to them.

I still think that the best way to implement the ladder is to have the range start at 20 and then slowly get smaller as the season goes along. So you could get bad match ups in the beginning, but over the course of 15 games, the spread narrows to a point where you are playing more teams closer to your ELO.

You do that and you will never catch the teams in a tier above. The #1 spot will always have a little good/bad luck in He match-ups deciding it.

I agree that the direction of the current system is better than last season. BUT it should definitely still "prioritize" Teams of you own tier. How to do that? I dunno, but I guess it works with some kind of RNG, so just give teams of own tiers more chances.

That way we will still see lots of matchups between tiers, but teams like Salty and Hawaii would very likely play each other a few times as well, which (lets be honest) they simply NEED to to decide who deserves #1. Everything else seems stupid

I'm not trying to catch the teams a tier above until I'm in that tier though, especially now that there will be an even bigger sp gap between veteran/professional thanks to the last two boosts.

I'm not saying completely tweak it, but there are ways I think you could improve it.

Prioritizing teams in your tier I would like to see as well, like peeti said. If that's not possible, maybe the last two ladder games a little tournament is set up between the top 4. Or at least guarantee the last week is 1v2, 3v4 etc.

Eventually you are going to want to catch those Vet level teams and a Journeyman tier trophy isn't going to mean anything to you. It's basically the equivalent of winning a AA or AAA trophy, it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

You still have to type in the description/comments on each update. While I try to keep them relevant, a bug fix that takes 10 minutes can slip out of my mind by the time I upload my code at the end of the week.

It's easy enough to go back through to code to check if it was fixed, and considering I'm the only one really working on code, yeah.

I'm not experienced with Subversion, but doesn't it have something like git issues to keep track on these bugs?

We already did that, and it caused all kinds of issues.

Before it was a strict rule though; couldn't it just be a weighted probability?

Seems like both ends of the spectrum have been tried where somewhere in the middle is probably most desirable. Additionally it would seem that matchups are chosen independent of all other weeks whereas a scheme which takes prior matchups into account could be pretty amazing.

Hey corn, will kickers be allowed to have run blocking skills after this update?
