Figured it was, just didn't want to call you out on it if it wasn't you.

Don't care, it's cheap but SF ran there share of the play as well.

Remember a month or so ago when everyone in a bug thread decreed MO a completely broken play and nobody would ever run it again?

Really? I remember Bhall saying that it wasn't correct based on the play art, but I don't think people were saying they weren't going to run it again. The LBs going to the outside instead of the inside is what makes it such an effective pass rush play as well.

I remember myself saying how overpowered it was/is and everyone trying to tell me it wasn't/isn't.

Oh how the tables have turned.

I agree that it is OP, but it can easily be beat if you know its coming. If it comes out of no where though, you are screwed most of the time.

The problem is that the FS is covering WR3 in the replays in the OP, but lined up in the middle of the field. This essentially leaves WR3 uncovered for however long it takes the FS to get back into position which any QB who gets through their reads quickly is going to exploit. If WR3 runs an out, as in the first replay, it's much, much worse, and there is no chance the FS is ever going to make a play.

Basically, in man coverage you all but have to have the player assigned to cover lined head-up on the receiver they're going to cover. They don't necessarily need to be moved up to the LOS, but they do need to be over the top of the guy. Otherwise, the play gets filed under 'broken' and nobody who's paying attention runs it ever again.

I feel a lot better knowing in hindsight that the person I was calling out was Xav.

He even wrote a poem about how broken and unusable it is

Wherefore art thou Middle Overload?
Deny thy programmer and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my playbook,
And I'll no longer be a defensive coordinator

'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art free safety, though not an inside blitzer
What's a blitzer? It is not safety, nor guard,
nor tackle, no back, nor any other position
belonging on the field. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet.
So Middle Overload would, were not Middle Overload call'd
Retain that dear pefection which it owes
without that title. Middle Overload, doff thy name
And for that name which is no part of thee
take all itself

ya ive just been using MO and a couple 5-2 blitz's for a couple weeks now. Pretty much have given up trying to play coverage with everyone spamming the corner routes.

And everything I said is still true.

From today:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/57626/2052053

See WR3?

See WR3 lined up uncovered?

See the FS chasing desperately after WR3 at the snap, and failing to get there?

See the fact that it was Jampy that called it, and not someone who actually pays attention?

Eventually, you're going to learn I'm never wrong
