Right, gimme a link where there is no gap on the LoS. I'll believe when i see it.

Here. Watch what 59 is doing at ~13s. I believe this is what Xav is wanting players to do rather than running straight forward into blockers.

Yeah, I don't think this is necessary. It's a "fix your build" issue. Wanna shut down these QB rollout teams? Get silver showboat and 40+ intimidation on your main TFL players.

10+ TFLs are all well and good until you've cost your entire offense 100 morale and boosted the entire defense by 50 morale.

Fix it like in this play, have the LBers teleport when they are blocked, through to the ball carrier

That's exactly it!

Move down the line, then crash when you see the ball carrier.

You know, you're right. That's not the best of all possible examples. But you know what, rather than trying to fish up youtube links, I'm going to post this instead:

http://coachxo.com/defending-sweep-perimeter-plays-3-5-3-defense/

It goes into more of the basic principles of how actual defenses try to stop these sorts of plays.

That's really, really counting on the outside guy to contain. I know this, because that's where I played when I played football.

And you have to run wind sprints the next practice any time a back gets outside you

No... You don't do that unless the LOS is jam packed, like 5-2 vs. Big I or GL or something.

Sure, sure. I'm just saying that worrying about containment really is a thing rather than just having everyone go full speed ahead, damn the blockers, pursuit angles et al.

Erm, what were we talking about again? I thought the whole discussion was about how it's a bad thing to have linebackers run headlong into scrums in plays like goalline sweeps.

Btw, in today's Completely Wrong For Making The Two Lounge Seasoned Teams Play Each Other Bowl...

The team that is all sneaky with QB Rollouts going so far as to use a running QB specifically for them...lost.

The defense totally coached by yours truly....won. (and I refused to gameplan for it on general principle instead just running my default D)

Now, Darkside did score on one of those rollouts, but it took the linebacker who got past the line not making a pursuit roll and both the FS and ILB missing tackles to do it.

'Course we turned another of those rollouts into a fumble, so it's all good.

Pursuit angles are OP, but no one builds these types of joes and wonder why they get burned to the outside.

What you want is nothing new, AGD2D and 42 joes do it all the time.

They don't do that, and if they are (and you don't want them to) pick better plays.

You're trying to have a discussion about real football with Jampy which is lot like trying to push Sisyphus's builder up that hill...
