We might have just beaten Air Raid, but I'd much rather play Salty than have to play Air Raid or Glasgow on a consistent basis, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of those two teams that the Lounge will have to beat to win Oberon.

I'm aware how tough Oberon is (played a few of the top teams there this season), but you'd really rather have that league trophy over a #1 ladder trophy?

possibly Oberon champ trophy over runner-up ladder trophy

a few seasons down the line, who is gonna remember which leagues were tough and which leagues were easy?

Pretty sure Xav would like both as that would mean they would have to go likely 5-0 to end the season vs. 4 top 10 teams and Glasglow/Air Raid. Plus still taking out all his division opponents here at the end of the season which is no small task.

That's the beauty of GLB2, tbh. In Classic it was lolMinors or non-Elite or non-WL. It was easy to globally trivialize accomplishments. If GLB2 some people think ladder is more important, some think league championships are more important. Only time will tell but, so far, you don't see lolRookie or lolSophomore or...well you get the picture. There are multiple ways for people to feel they've accomplished something in GLB2 and no true global was to trivialize any of it.

maybe we need a BCS-Playoff type system for the ladder top 4 (which should include top Oberan team)

Eh I don't believe you need a playoff system among the ladder to end the season. #1 is like holding a heavyweight belt. It is more of a marathon than a last second sprint. League play is the opposite which is also nice.

Holding #1 in the ladder is far superior to a championship; you can't hide in a weak league, you're forced to play the best of the best..

I have faith that Glasgow and Air Raid can get back into the top ten. They're barely out of it as it is.

And it is fun sitting and scouting those teams and thinking, "Okay. I can't actually stop them. But maybe I can make enough of a speed bump that Sieg can outrun them."

The bottom line is that winning Oberon is going to be harder than winning the ladder, and more importantly to me, I have a lot more control over winning Oberon. If Salty or Harrisburg keeps winning versus the semi-inactive Seasoned teams, I won't even get the chance at #1 ladder.

Ya that is why I keep up more with the Seasoned teams than the lower leagues at this point. Our top 10 is pretty much forced to get at one another rather than hitting up the next tier. Not that I don't think that is a good element of the ladder system but getting down to the last couple weeks there should be some sort of forced play between your own tier rather than elsewhere.

Careful what you wish for - the more constraints added to ladder play (and a few big ones were added already), the more often you're going to just play the same teams over and over.

I already am man. There is nowhere to go up after 1 in Seasoned.

And when I talk about only playing tier teams I mean once the playoffs hit so like the last 2-3 ladder games. That way you are fighting it out for top tier trophy with the rest of the people vying for it. You don't want to be the Heavyweight of the World ducking a prime time opponent for Evander HolyField at age 60.

Why?

Cobra's already the weakest Seasoned league with an average ranking of 113. Without them, you wouldn't have any challenge at all.

As it is, winning Cobra is a lot like winning the Sun Belt. You've earned a pat on the head and a purple participation ribbon

Cobra is a really bad league.

It's like...Maine >>>>>>>> Dookie >>>>> Everyone else

Dookie is going to go 13-1 and lose the championship game for the foreseeable future.
