I'm just saying your opinion of successful is kinda twisted.

Over the last day I've been really digging into CBs to see what kind of production they're getting. Only the top 50 CBs have <50% rec all. Only the top 9 have <40%. Out of the top 25 ladder teams (125 CBs in all), Dennis Fossenberg is ranked #34 in %rec all, #21 in takeaways (FFs + Ints) and #30 in penetration (sacks + TFL + .5*hurries). That puts him in the 29th percentile. He gets better production than 70% of other top-tier CBs. I don't see how that doesn't match the traditional definition of "successful."

only way i found so far to evaluate a CB is on PD + int vs times targetted
it's the only stats really telling what the CB has done individually pass covering related

well thats awful judgement since elite Int CBs are getting like 3 ints per season tops...
and not every CB has PD, so how do you rank them?

Its p simple tbh... ignore all the constants... 40%< is elite. 45%< is above average. 50%< average 55%> bad 60%> horrible. recall, forget # of PDs/Int... Some CBs may not even have any deflect or int stat

well the % seems more just as much related to pass rush as it's to the CB being there as it's to the other teams ability

pd's and ints is where the CB won with out contest

i wont say a teams CB's are good cause a team sacks the QB 50% of the time

Think about this... the plays where the QB gets sacked doesn't show up in his recall.... what are you even saying?

I'm getting more in line with this train of thought, although I do think that Ints and FFs matter because they (ints) are essentially "just another defended pass" when you're examining %recall, but they have a bigger effect on the game than that. So yeah, I mostly agree with you at this point, Jampy. My CB has more PDs than anyone else at top levels... but that's just a vanity stat considering he still gives up ~47%. He's performing just above average, at the top levels (I still consider this success).

FFs are an extremely lucky roll for CBs atm, ints are a very very lucky roll...

judging a CB off his extremely lucky rolls just makes no sense to me... I'd rather take the sum of all of his rolls, high and low, and omit the extremes (ints).

Eh, success is relative. Our definitions may be different and thats ok.

My question: Is there a "build" solution to the issue where defenders are covering their man by running 2yards DEEPER than the receiver? Or is that purely a coding issue?

i think the int and FF part should just be delegated to the other 2 parts since FF is pass rushing and int is coverage currently

coding bro. Only reccomendation is to not overspeed your CB, having them trailing the WR is the best case scenario.

If only we could get more of a response in that suggestions thread.

Hows this build?

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/20571

I really want him to get more INTs, but i think Intercepting skill is already high enough, only 23 points to Max and i dont think anyone should max out any skill this early on, unless its Conditioning.

Those ints aren't happening. I'd focus more on having a <50% recall then getting 3 or so ints in 150 targets..

Yeah i didnt expect this game to have so few INTs. lol That could change in the future with algorithm changes though.
