WEEK 3 - WESTERN CONFERENCE
=============================
We started with eight undefeated teams heading into conference play and we are now down to five. An "upset" here and there most notably the big win by the Diggers Union over Syracuse. I'll fess up I had Cuse/Foy Destroyers as the teams to measure up against and maybe Grave read the press clippings and thought they'd show this writer wrong. Still, a lot of season left and I have the feeling 'Cuse will be just fine as the season moves along. The first week of conference plays wasn't overly exiting with two only true games close and then there was the four shutouts. With some CPU rosters here and there that's to be expected. Still think the last playoff spot or two will come down to the weeks final buzzer.
Well, its late so I'll get cracking on this so I can get to bed.
HOW THE WEST WAS WONBrotherly Love Metro Stars @ Nevada Hillbillie's: Nevada comes in at 2-0 and they have plenty of boosted dots which certainly give them an advantage and that will really show in this one. A few big plays will break open a closely played first half.
Score: Nevada 38 Brotherly Love 17
Grave Diggers Union @ Green Bay Maulers: I can't see to catch a break (have to say my team seems to have the toughest schedule early on) as I get the red hot Diggers Union coming into town. I think this may be a slug fest with one of the defenses stepping up and making a big play. As with every week you know a Mauler is going to make a play - AT LEAST THEY BETTER!!!
Score: Green Bay 27 Grave 24
The NFL 2012 All Pro Selections @ Wornout Bastards: Cinderella is still dancing - KEEP IT UP WORNOUT. This one should be a very good game as both teams come into the season not boosting to four. Now, they face off as Lv 2's. The match up God says The NFL 2012 all the way but I have to pull for my favorite non-owned team...Bastards grind out a W in a low scoring affair.
Score: Wornout 17 The NFL 2012 13
Syracuse Bulldogs @ Her Majesty's Dragons: Nothing cures a loss like a game against CPU dots...'Cuse in a route.
Score: Syracuse 155 Her Majesty's 0
Aalborg 89'ers @ The LEGION'S Foy Destroyers: The 89'ers put up three against Nevada. They won't reach that point output and give up a lot more than 84.
Score: The LEGION'S 145 Aalborg 0
Washington Insiders @ Cybertron Autodots: The Insiders will rack up their first W of the season as they face a roster layden with CPU dots.
Score: Washington 77 Cybertron 0
CrossFit Clowns @ Oakland Vipers: <<UPSET ALERT>> The Vipers come in at 2-0 but the Clowns will be the strongest team they've faced so far. The jury's till out on how good this Vipers team is. I'm not sold on them yet and the Crossfit will get a W here.
Score: CrossFit 31 Oakland 24
Aubrun Tigers @ Bandit Kings: Still no "Bo Jackson" - do I have to start begging?!!! It won't matter in this one as the Tigers will roll once again facing a CPU roster.
Score: Auburn 110 Bandit 0
ELITE EIGHT: A little shake up in the standings.
1. The LEGION'S Foy Destroyers - the new #1 and I expect they'll be keeping it for a little while.
2. Nevada Hillbillie's - a big rise up from this group as they've been tested and had a route to their resume.
3. Wornout Bastards - the feel good story of the conference.
4. Oakland Vipers - I've sent the first salvo and challenging them let's see how they respond.
5. Grave Diggers Union - even though they sit at 1-1 knocking of the big dogs deserves more than a pat on the head.
6. Green Bay Maulers - got through a tough one but still don't look all that strong compared to some.
7. Syracuse Bulldogs - licking their wounds after a surprising loss (sorry for all the dog references - you got Bulldogs and I just let my dog out to take care of her business).
8. CrossFit Clowns - need to bounce back this week against the Vipers to maintain in the top eight.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:I need to get off the PR/KR kick but for the second straight week...
KR/PR Stevie. Janowski, Grave Diggers. Stevie had two fourth quarter punt returns that enabled the Grave Diggers to pull the stunner over Syracuse.
PR #1 - up 21-17 Janowski gave the Diggers some breathing room:
