You also have owned all the players on your team since season 12. I guarentee you wouldn't have the success you do now with a team of 20 plus agents,

Mixed bag on this one. There are some great coordinators/owners that put in lots of time every game. There are great owners that "set it and forget it" (some are good enough that they can win this way). There are average coordinators/owners that work hard at it and do well. There are average coordinators/owners that put in very little time and generally fight to stay in Gold at best. Then there is also the handful of CPU's that are obviously "gimme" games. It really just depends on whether the team is serious about trying to win or not. Bottom line is that there are very few games each season that you can guarantee a win.

My assumption is that most teams do this. It is much easier at this level since half the playbook is useless, making Offensive gameplanning more mundane and Defensive gamplanning much easier.

Too many silver teams. Drop it to 4 and promote both the conference champs. Not a total fix but it would help. I had one real game last season.

Curious to see how many gold teams actually try, or if they are just optimal peewee builders who know how to build the AI so they can set it and forget it.

u lost 3 times in the league n won the playoffs bc of boosting

Not really relevant. I knew going in I would get a top 4 spot so I didn't even bother setting up my tactics or depth chart until the playoffs.

From the gg thread early in the season:

In fairness analyzing our game, lack of setting up special teams depth chart might have been a factor

You are right about the boosting part being the main difference in the playoffs though....I gotta burn through 60,000 flex somehow...

So you lose by 10 and say 1 ST score is the difference? Yeah, that makes sense. You wouldn't last one season in the Old Gold. You have to change strategies and plans every game to be effective. When DSBM made it to the championship in our first season, I loaded up an offense that was 80% new for each game. D~town was one of the first to point out that was what made it so hard to gameplan for us -- there was no rhyme or reason to what plays we ran or way to really predict what we would run. Fu schemed big time on defense for every game. It got old fast, and we burnt out. I think that happens to a lot of people. I think a lot of people do setup a AI and let it go until a game that matters. I know that's what we did last season.

I fully intend to change my AI every game, except for the first few since I will be on vacation.

There is no reason for you to know my history, but I am no stranger to a league as competitive as "Old Gold".

Season 6 I beat the Gamblers (hazyone/Catch22) and Wolfpack (painmaker) to advance to US Pro
Season 7 I lost by seven in Rd 2 of US Pro to the league champs - Washington Bullets
Season 8 I lost in the US Pro Conference Finals by 2 to the league champs - Gamblers
Season 9 I won US Pro - the premiere league in the game, this was prior to World League

Two seasons ago, I got asked to OC a WL team, Nairobi, and helped guide them to the #6 seed despite not having OC'd since Season 9 and knowing nothing about the players or team going in.

So yeah....the point of my comments is that I had one competitive game last season. I didn't gameplan for others, and neither did my opponents. My hope is that PeeWee Gold would be the type of league where individual gameplanning mattered, since this is what I enjoyed about GLB back in the day, but it seems like it will probably be more about having optimal builds and proper positioning of defensive players than individual gameplans.

Coaching is meaningless in the upper levels...it's all about who has the better builds. 90% of games are decided before they start.

Think a team without CEQ and 3 levels lower has any chance at the upper levels? We have seen a number of boosted & CEQ teams beaten by No-No teams here in Gold, and that's all about coaching.

Based on watching nearly every WL game two seasons ago it is more like 20%. I would guess that 40% of the WL teams also don't bother changing their AI from game to game, at least on defense.

3 levels isn't as much a difference once you get up that high. The right AE/VAs are most important since a lot of the offensive playmaking ability comes from fakes/spins etc.

Hey. You're the one who ran away from Gold when you saw I made it here.

As odd as this may sound.....lvl 72 dots are better than level 74 dots.

If you don't make it to at least lvl 72 though, you miss out on your final EQ upgrades, and that hurts.
