I would NEVER want to see an OPC....I wont get into why...it would just be horrible...

but you brought up a good point when you said the playbook and "usable plays" and it's truth...80% of the passes and 50% of the runs are crap and not usable at least at the pro level, and I'd imagine at the WL level its more like 85/80

The # of offensive plays needs to triple at the least and that may help some.

Up until a few seasons back, there were zero plays with the HB weak out of shotgun. I don't necessarily think a full OPC is necessary, but a simple play creator that basically has pre-set routes (streak, slant, post, corner, shallow cross, deep cross, shallow out, deep out, etc.) that you assign to each dot on a pattern, could be the tits. Honestly, there are only a couple pass plays out of most formations that are even viable.

A pretty big part of whether a specific play works for your offense has to do with your personnel.

For example, a tackle-breaking WR can kill you with short hooks but aren't necessarily great on the slants. A high speed/first step guy is a waste on short hooks, but deep hooks, slants and (with some jumping) deep flag patterns can be deadly for them.

Same is true for runs....your O-line and HB/FB builds make a huge difference on where and how you can run the ball successfully.

That being said, there are definitely some plays that serve merely to gather dust...though it's worth trying them out again every season as the sim changes can make something that was broken turn into a pretty good play.

And please, no OPC. That would kill the game.

There are a couple plays collecting dust for sure. Most notably TE Screen. Altho I think it could be good if it wasnt so poorly executed.

Actually outside of that play...every single play in the playbook serves good purpose. I have used all of them to some degree this season and much of their uses have come from me seeing other coordinators using them effectively while im scouting. Sure some take certain personnel to pull off...but if you are limiting yourself with what you have to work with, then of course you are limiting your playbook. However I dont care how limited you are...to say that 80% of the passes in the book are unusable is downright lol...

OPC? Certainly not needed. I do however agree with the topic taurran and PP brought up in a thread awhile ago on this...all of the plays should have every possible target going out on a route and it should be the OC's decision whether anyone is set to stay in and pass block.

Too add to that, OC's should be able to flip plays to make the defense actually have to build a real defense instead of "omgrolb exploit blitz" every down.

would make a need for more versatile lb's, which I'm all about

I have to say no to the OPC as well, but I think there should be about 3 times more plays at the very least.

Add QB sneaks from each formation.

Add 1 Pitch and 1 TE Pass from GL (granted this could be gamebreaking maybe)

Add new formations. (4 WR, 2 TE)

Was talking about passing plays. Altho I think that there are 2 SG plays that do similar things far more effectively. So ya...it certainly is collecting dust.

You have a different strategy than zero and me. We usually end up chatting on the Alpine chat room until 45 minutes before the game, then we scramble as crazy to get something together.
