If you did know, then you wouldn't be saying Steve isn't big on feeling challenged. If that was the case, the Rhinos would've folded like a lawn chair in Season 9 when the Sea Wolves beat them near the end of the year in our Sophomore season. Instead, they battled us in the Conference championship and won by 4. You clearly do not know Steve, the Rhinos, or even GRitS(who you were in the same conference with for a season).

Well said. Because we wanted to EARN our way to the next league makes us hated??? Sorry that I was used to earning our way up like the Gunfighters and Congo did starting in AA. I voted no the promotion because I thought it was the right thing to do. I had NO idea we would get bashed for it.

the thing is, within the current rules of the game you did EARN your way...you guys made it far enough in the playoffs that you were offered the chance to go to the WL

No where does it say far enough in the PLAYOFFS....It was stated the conf champs can say yes or no, then it is given to the next in order and so on.

Seawolves made it to APL by winning AA Championship in Season 5 and AAA in Season 7. We didn't want to make it by being a playoff team that got moved up because of guts at the Pro level. We wanted a gold trophy at each stage and that's what we did. These teams simply want the trophy to prove they deserve to be in the WL(which would only take a silver, but no one only wants the silver). I understand not wanting to move up because Bort can't keep people interested enough to stick around. That's Bort's screw up and his problem, not their problem. If they want to win their way to the WL, that's the choice Bort gave them and is an understandable position. Just because Bort was a child and decided to try embarrassing APL in front of everyone, it doesn't give anyone an excuse to act just as childish and attack GRitS or WWR.

I've discussed this in PM with both Steve and RJ...I apologized to both for blowing up...after a bit of time to think about it, this is my thinking...

WWR were demoted from WPL and went 16-0 in the regular season losing only to a very good team in the Conf. Finals
Grits went 31-1 the last two seasons and had maybe 2-3 close games
It is very clear that both teams absolutely belong in WPL. They both have the talent to compete there.

WPL forums suck. They are childish and there is little serious talk or discussion of the game. This we can agree on. But the level of game play is much better and seemingly more fun that having 2-3 tough games in APL.

The argument of 'we're losing some of our best players to retirement' doesn't really fly because almost all of the top teams are in the same boat. That's just how it works. You dominate a Pro League for 3-4 seasons and eventually your guys get too old and you need new guys.

The argument of 'we wanted to earn our way to WPL' doesn't really fly either. You don't need a trophy to have earned your way to WPL. You were the best team in line. This isn't a situation where the 5th or 6th team down just happened to be the next best team and their number was called. We're talking about a team that was dominant in APL for multiple seasons.

In the end its an option. WWR and Grits played the system how they wanted. They shouldn't have a choice, but they do and they decided they would rather stay in APL. Blame Bort for letting it come to this.

Steve and RJ are still class guys and they run class teams with class agents. That hasn't changed and I expect it never will. That said, they are allowed to be given some shit for not going. That's just how it is, and they probably realize that just as much as anybody else.

I'm looking forward to a great season in APL, and with any luck some of these up and coming teams will make Grits and WWR look foolish for staying here .

Not going to happen Hays, the GRiTs and WWR will unleash hell on the APL season, play each other in the finals and earn our spot to get promoted to the WPL. Everyone has their opinions and that is fine by me, all you have done is make two great teams better and the APL will feel the brunt of it. The GRiTs plan was to retire the season one players and get ready to bring up the young talent, making us less dominant in the APL this season followed by the next season going to our full slow build roster. That plan has changed dramatically in 48 hours....

I'll never look foolish... This is where we want to be. If we can't hack it here, it would have been even worse in the WL...
